i Light Singapore

For those of you who are artsy, here is something for you! The annual i Light Singapore, Asia’s leading light festival, is returning from 5 June 2026 to 28 June 2026. Movement is the theme of this year’s event, with many of the light displays showcasing the expressive power of motion.

There will be interactive installations such as Let’s Fish the Sun!, which lets visitors “reel in” the sun and reverse the sunset. You can also check out local artworks such as Steps by Nawal Bte Azhar, a glowing staircase that symbolises Singapore’s progress as a Nation.

Jewel Changi Airport has blossomed into a vibrant floral wonderland with the launch of Celebrate Jewel Blooms with LEGO Botanicals. Beauty Vault 2026: Luxury beauty pop-up

Raffles City Singapore has returned with the third edition of Beauty Vault — its annual signature luxury beauty pop-up, running until 14 June 2026. Durian Buffet @ FairPrice Xtra

Durian season is right around the corner, which means our neighbourhoods will soon be filled with the pungent aroma of the notorious fruit. As fruit stalls start stocking their shelves, FairPrice is taking it up a notch with its all-you-can-eat durian buffet.

The buffet will be offered in 2 locations: Parkway Parade FairPrice Xtra from 19 June 2026 to 21 June 2026, and VivoCity FairPrice Xtra from 26 June 2026 to 28 June 2026. For 60 minutes, you’ll have unlimited access to a premium durian spread featuring Mao Shan Wang, Black Thorn, King of King, Red Prawn, D24, and D13. Alongside the durian, you’ll get up to 300g of fresh mangosteen and a fresh coconut to keep you hydrated.

Children’s Festival

Children’s Festival featuring Disney’s Winnie the Pooh is taking place from 30 May 2026 to 21 June 2026 at Supertree Grove. The festival is themed around the iconic bear and his friends, celebrating 100 years of friendships, curiosity, kindness, and the simple joys of life.

There will be numerous themed installations for kids to explore, play, and take photos at. The Hundred Acre Glide, for example, will allow kids to go on Singapore’s first Winnie the Pooh-themed zipline. Other installations inspired by the different characters include The Sweetest Drops, The Joyful Puddle, and The Brave Logs.

There will also be carnival games, a retail pop-up, and a cafe pop-up during the weekends, as well as an inflatable march with music and dancing on Saturdays. Furthermore, throughout the festival, children under 12 can enter the Flower Dome for free.

The Portals Experience

Do you geek out about alternate universes, fictional worlds, and made-up characters? Or are you someone who just wishes you could go on an adventure in a medieval fantasy land or in outer space? At the Portals Experience, you can. This June, one of the world’s largest science fiction and fantasy collections is making its global debut right here in Singapore.

Journey across eight “realms” and enjoy over 300 original paintings from some of the world’s greatest creators and fictional universes. CFA Cat Show

The CFA Cat Show is a celebration of feline beauty and grace, where pedigree cats take centre stage in a competitive yet wholesome showcase. Living in Singapore means a normalised grind culture and questionable work-life balance. However, if that starts to feel bleak, there’s actually a vibrant world of artistic and cultural pursuits in the local scene that we can enrich ourselves with.

In fact, from 4 May 2026 to 17 May 2026, one of our local Chinese Dance companies, the Singapore Chinese Dance Theatre, is holding its 11th edition of the Chinese Dance Fiesta. This year, the festival will showcase 6 Chinese dance performances held across Singapore, as well as workshops and discussion sessions with the esteemed Professor Ma Jiaqin, China’s first-grade choreographer and founding dean of Nanjing University of the Arts’ Dance Academy.

If you’re looking for some cultural enrichment to brighten up your life, here’s what to expect.

Chinese Dance Performances

On 8 May 2026, catch hardworking young dancers from primary, secondary and tertiary school groups such as Ngee Ann Polytechnic, St Tanjong Katong Primary School, and Dance Ensemble Singapore, celebrate Chinese heritage with captivating performances. Don’t underestimate them because of their age; these youths are just as passionate as any adult dancers.

Dance workshop and talks

Beyond the performances, the festival offers 2 introductory workshops to Kunwu Dance, a contemporary style of classical Chinese dance.

The first is a 4-day intensive (S$300) catered to experienced dancers. The second is a 2-hour beginner-friendly workshop (S$10) held on 9 May 2026 that introduces attendees to the foundations of Kunwu Dance. If dance and Chinese culture are something you’ve always wanted to learn more about, this is a unique opportunity to experience them in-depth.

There’s also a 30-minute talk-demonstration, where Professor Ma shares insights into the philosophy and techniques behind Kunwu Dance. It’s perfect if you’re keen to learn more but can’t join the dance workshop.

The National Gallery Singapore is pushing the boundaries of artistic expression in Asia with its first-ever R18 exhibition. This comes as a bold move in a conservative society where subjects like desire are avoided in public discourse. The provocative exhibition aims to challenge the way we view these subjects—reframing them as lived experiences rather than a taboo.

The exhibit titled Passion is Volcanic: Desire in Southeast Asian Art, explores how desire and sexuality have been represented in art in Southeast Asian societies. It brings together over 70 works from across periods, regions, and cultures, featuring a diverse media of paintings, sculptures, and photography. Intentionally curated to showcase abstract expressions rather than literal interpretations, it encourages visitors to look beyond the obvious and think deeper.

The exhibition is organised in 3 sections—Asian Mythos and Ritual, Conventions of the Erotic, and Public Arenas/Private Interiors. Asian Mythos and Rituals explores spiritual and cosmological narratives behind eroticism, showcasing the human body as a bridge between nature, emotion, sacredness, and spirituality.

Meanwhile, Conventions of the Erotic showcases how artists have challenged traditional views of the body in the post-colonial era. Enjoy a diversity of perspectives, as some artists present nudity as a form of liberation, while others use it to explore new means of expression and symbolisation.

The last section, Public Arenas/Private Interiors, is a curation of artist voices who used their works to bring marginalised experiences into public discourse. All while pushing against the rapid cultural shifts of the 20th Century.

Spotlighting some works, Alfonso Ossosrio evokes a visceral bodily experience through his dynamic and dense artwork, Clouds of Conscience. Meanwhile, Ahmad Zakii Anwar leans into realist symbolism with Sixtynine, as his humorous artwork depicts two fruits drawn in precarious positions.

Works by local artists will also be featured, such as Lavendar Chung’s Dissolving into the Same Breath. Using long-exposure photography, she captures bodies in motion as soft, fleeting moments of intimacy.

Recently, Singapore has seen a wave of closures in the art scene, with cultural landmarks such as The Projector and Filmgarde Cineplexes bidding farewell. The news has sparked conversations about the city losing its soul, as independent arts and cultural sites increasingly give way to corporate developments.

Despite the grim outlook, the announcement of Filmhouse’s opening has given us a second chance at supporting these platforms. The new cinema officially soft-launched in February this year and is now hosting its Filmhouse Warming Party—and everyone is invited.

It kicks off the two-month-long celebration with an introduction to a Music in Film series that celebrates the cultural impact of musical films, starting with the iconic La La Land, alongside Whiplash and Cowboy Bebop: The Movie.
