If you’ve ever felt disappointed that the clothes that look amazing on the rack somehow don’t suit you (but you can’t quite figure out why), you’re not alone. Those in touch with K-fashion trends have probably heard of this before — colour analysis has been on the rise, and for a good reason too!

For those wondering what this particular trend is about, it’s actually exactly what it sounds like. During a consultation, the professional colour analyst will decipher which colours are the most flattering for your particular skin tone, eye and hair colour (and which colours you should avoid). From then on, you’ll be armed with the knowledge of how exactly to dress to slay — be it choosing clothes, accessories, make up or even what hair colours to dye.

Intrigued yet? For professional analysis, most head down to Korea — experienced Naver users will tell you that there are many places offering such services, and some of these professionals even speak perfect English. No wonder tourists flock to Seoul to get their colours analysed! Plus, your colour palette stays the same throughout your life, so it’s a great investment to make.

Most colour analysis consultants will have you seated in front of a mirror while they try out different colours and shades on you. Depending on the package you get, it might also include an appraisal of the make-up that you’re using and even recommendations on what products would complement your palette more.

Can’t fly to Korea? Here are some alternatives that you can try — it might be a little difficult for the untrained eye to identify complementing palettes, but hey, it’s worth a shot (and they’re all free!).

You might have seen these around on TikTok — simply search up the filters “ARMOCROMIA” and “COLOURZOOM gracemchoi” and play around with them to find out which range of colours are the most compatible with your skin.

For a more authentic experience, download the free app known as 컬러버 — while the app’s name is Korean, rest assured that you can search up the developer’s name “Color Lover Lab” to find it even if you’re not well-versed in the language. Apart from being available on both iPhone and Android, it’s also pretty user-friendly (despite the slightly broken English instructions).
