We’re back with another speciality bakery you probably haven’t heard about, and it even specialises in one of the most addictive French pastries known to man — canelés.

Enter Flourcrafts Patisserie, a former home-based business specialising in artisanal canelés and tarts that has been operating out of a physical shop space in — you guessed it — Tanjong Pagar since late 2022.

The French canelé may be notoriously hard to perfect, but the satisfaction of savouring one with a soft and tender custard center and a dark and firm caramelised crust, is, in my opinion, one of life’s greatest pleasures.

Go for the classic Vanilla Rum if you want to keep it classic, but there are several unique canelé flavours to tickle your palate with, like Sweetcorn Genmaicha, Baileys Rocher, Beni Haruka Sweet Potato, and of course, the crowd-favourite Taro (Orh Nee).

Taro-infused canelés filled with creamy taro paste that’s not too sweet? Count me in!

I also have my eye on the ganache-filled Pistachio Crémeux and Uji Matcha canelés, which sound oh-so appealing.

As for the seasonal tarts, the Matcha Daifuku Tart (S$9), which is inspired by traditional wagashi (Japanese sweets). comprises a tart shell filled with midorigi matcha ganache and mochi, topped with a chewy matcha creme daifuku. You can also find an alluring Black Sesame (S$9) version that boasts a nutty and silky smooth black sesame ganache.

Pre-orders for larger boxes of six or more pastries can be made here. Otherwise, you can walk in and place orders on the spot (but try heading down early to avoid disappointment)!
