Are you a dai-hard fan of Hong Kong food?
Introducing HEY KEE, a Hong Kong-style live seafood eatery with a dai pai dong ambience.

Normally, I’m not a fan of dining out in hot weather, but funnily enough, it made me feel more immersed in HEY KEE’s atmosphere.
Paired with the eatery’s thoughtful touches like road-like flooring, neon-lit signs, and photo spots like a retro hair salon chair and a bus stop, we were transported to Hong Kong’s streets.

We were reeled into HEY KEE for one reason — its new 80-minute, all-you-can-eat, Weekday Lunch À La Carte Buffet.
What’s more is for a limited time only, it’s 50% off, meaning it’s just S$25.80++ per person!
Of the more than 30 Hong Kong-style wok-fried items, we must start with the One-Time Premium Dishes (limited to one order per table).

The first premium dish presented before us was the “Hair Dryer” White Pepper Live Prawns.
You heard that right. A hair dryer blasted our jumbo-sized prawns right before us.

The efforts bore fruit, providing a crispy shell. With white pepper adding a kick, the taste was worth the mess of hand-peeling.
The theatrics didn’t end there. Flambe Angus Beef with Whisky also promises a show.
First, a hot pan is laid out, followed by thick beef pieces and herbs.
After a warning to step back, we watched the magic where heated whisky was poured in for flames to consume the beef.

These tricks weren’t just for show, as we found the meat super tender. Overall, these two up the ante if you’ve got anyone to impress.
Showstoppers aside, up to today, I cannot shut up about our table’s favourite dish — the ‘Typhoon Shelter’ Style Stir-Fried Abalone.

Abalones are stir-fried with generous amounts of garlic, scallions, fermented black beans, and chilli.
This resulted in something similar to cereal prawns. Tasting abalone in a crispy setting instead of the usual oyster sauce was a unique experience, too.
The crispy bits of garlic and scallions contrasted perfectly with the absolutely tender meat, leaving me in absolute heaven.
Another crispy item is the ‘Temple Street’ Crispy Roast Chicken (Half). Marinated for six hours and deep-fried with garlic and shallots, this was a mouthwatering item perfect for small groups.

Finally, the HK Street Style Shark’s Fin Soup finished things off perfectly by wrapping us in a comforting and warm hug.

Beyond the premium items, the regular ones are just as delicious. These are some fan-favourite highlights I must rave about.

First, don’t be fooled by the Scrambled Egg with Shrimp’s simplicity. These eggs were next level with a creamy, melt-in-your-mouth feel. It’s just a shame that the portion was smaller than expected — I would’ve eaten it by myself if I could.

Another comfort dish is the Sizzling Choy Sum in Claypot with Tai O Shrimp Paste. The greens came crispy with dried prawns, adding much-needed umami.

Finally, get the Deep Fried Silver Fish with Salt & Pepper, as these were small but salty and moreish bites, great for snacking on.

Before leaving, I recommend getting the Brown Sugar Mochi dessert for its satisfyingly stretchy pull, crispy coating, and sweetness.
