You might have seen this cosy Vietnamese diner appearing all over your social media feed lately. In case you have been living under a rock, this viral eatery goes by the name Miss Saigon, and they’re open 24 hours — yay! Located in Orchard Plaza, the all-day dining spot serves authentic Vietnamese dishes, hearty banh mi and more, which is perfect for post-drinking food.

Miss Saigon is tucked away at level two of Orchard Plaza. Right from the get-go, this cosy shop space is bursting with Vietnamese pride — from the brightly coloured store name to the neon sign. Inside, you’ll find the store is packed with all your favourite snacks and a variety of instant noodles — I know where I’m headed to when I’m feeling peckish.

One of my favourite Vietnamese dishes is banh mi. For those who don’t know what banh mi is, it’s like the Vietnamese version of a subway sandwich. Instead of using a variety of breads, banh mi typically uses a nicely toasted baguette. While I am someone who doesn’t usually enjoy eating subway sandwiches, there’s something about banh mi that just hits different.

On Miss Saigon’s menu, you’ll find a pretty exhaustive selection of banh mi. Some options include Pork Dumplings (S$8.90), Fried Fish Cake (S$8.90), Salt Baked Roast Chicken (S$8.90), Mixed Pork Intestine and Ear (S$9.90), and even a vegetarian option.

My favourite was the Roasted Pork Banh Mi (S$9.90), which had thick slices of nicely roasted pork belly. That said, you could not tell that the pork belly was microwaved because it was still nice and juicy with a crunchy crackle. The crispy baguette along with the vegetables added a nice touch to the meal and helped to balance the saltiness from the pork.

We also tried the Grilled BBQ Pork (S$8.90), which had a generous serving of sweet and juicy barbecued pork. The best seller is the Traditional Bread (S$8.90) which I personally feel is like an upgraded version of a Subway sandwich loaded generously with various cuts of ham. It was both crispy and tangy thanks to the house made sauce — I am definitely coming back for this on my next visit!

Apart from banh mi, the menu also has a variety of rice and noodles, if you’re looking for something more filling. You can pair your meal with authentic vietnamese drinks like the Vietnamese Iced Milk Coffee (S$4.50), Iced Red Milk Tea (S$4.50), Iced Tamarind Dessert Drink (S$4.50), and the Special Pandan Drink (S$4.50).
