It seems Singapore has been obsessing over the famous French painter — Claude Monet — recently.
There’s the ‘Impressions of Monet’ experience held at Gardens by the Bay, and we’ve now learned that another Claude Monet-themed exhibition will arrive on our shores in October 2024.
Titled ‘Monet Inside’, this multisensory exhibition at Parkview Square is pretty much the successor to the world-renowned Van Gogh exhibition (yes, the one that was posted everywhere on social media).
However, ‘Monet Inside’ is brought to us by GROUNDSEESAW, a South Korea-based art space and platform. They’re apparently huge as their exhibitions have gathered more than five million visitors internationally.
That number really shouldn’t come as a surprise as their displays offer an out-of-this-world experience through stunning visuals, original soundtracks, and immersive storytelling.
‘Monet Inside’ is no different. Look forward to discovering a universe of enchanting colours and sounds as you gaze at over 200 of Monet’s paintings — all of them accompanied by curated music.
You’ll surely catch me spellbound by his iconic masterpieces, such as ‘Water Lilies’, ‘Woman with a Parasol’, and ‘Impression, Sunrise’.
It won’t just be Monet’s works that you’ll be celebrating over. It’ll be his life as well. Here’s a fun fact: he started out as a caricature artist in the port city of Le Havre in France.
His humble beginnings are not known to many people, so you’ll learn how he rose to become one of the world’s most celebrated artists.
If Monet were still alive, I’m sure he’dl be glad and even honoured that his life’s journey is narrated by his friend and art dealer — Paul Durand-Ruel — in this exhibition.
I recommend grabbing the best spot in the house (shh.. it’s the middle of the room!) to enjoy the moving pictures, presented in five six-metre screens surrounding you.
