Every once in a while, I like to take my cats out of the house for a little change in scenery and soak in some fresh air. Unfortunately there aren’t many pet-friendly places to take your pets to. If you’re looking for some fun and unique activities to do with your pet, The Star Vista might just have just what you’re looking for.
The Star Vista is hosting its annual Pets Social Ground over two weekends from now until 10 September 2023. This year it’s space-themed so you can expect to have lots of fun, decor and activities that will transport you out of this world.
There will be a pet adoption drive if you’re looking to adopt a new little furry friend. You can even be a part of the Singapore Book of Records by participating in the largest display of pet lick art — how cool is that?
Taking place from 1 September on Friday to Sunday, bring your furkids down to The Star Vista to redeem a free pet lick art kit. You can redeem a lick art kit from the tentage located at Level 2 in front of WATAMI. The kit comes with a canvas, paint, pet treats, and a ziplock bag.
Then, on 10 September at 5pm, be a part of the historic moment as the event attempts to set a new record for the largest display of pet lick art.
And in case you’re wondering, a pet lick art is essentially a canvas covered in drips of paint and placed into a ziplock bag. The bag is coated in with dog peanut butter (or cat treats for cats) and as the dog licks the bag, the canvas transforms into a beautiful masterpiece. It might sound messy but well, that’s what makes it fun.
Have you ever seen those videos online of dogs doing yoga? Aren’t they just the cutest? Well, it’s time to get moving and stretching with Pets Social Ground’s Paws & Pose yoga with pets session organised by Yoga Inc.
Each session costs S$35 and admits one adult and one furkid. The session will take place on 2 September 2023 from 5.30pm to 6.30pm and will be conducted by professional yoga instructors. Hopefully after the session, both you and your furkid can master the downward dog position. You can get your tickets here.
Other fun activities that will be taking place on weekends through to 10 September include bird performances, enriching talks on how to care for your furkid better, fun workshops, and a free photo booth for you to snap fun and wacky pics with your furkid.
Around the entire event space, there will also be space-themed photo spots complete with props for you to pose for pics with your furkid. While you’re at it, make sure to bring your furkids for some retail therapy at the retail booths.
You can shop for new clothes, accessories, toys, treats and so much more! From now until 10 September, spend any amount at The Pet Safari or Pets Fair, along with a receipt from any F&B outlet, and you can redeem a free goodie bag (worth S$20) filled with pet treats from The Star Vista.
The goodie bags are limited to the first 50 customers every Friday to Sunday on a first-come, first-served basis, and limited to one redemption per shopper per day, so make sure you act fast. Terms and conditions apply.
From now until 10 September, you can receive a S$10 gift voucher when you spend a minimum of S$100 in a single receipt or up to three same-day receipts combined from any stores, excluding the pets fair. The redemption is limited to 50 redemptions per day. Terms and conditions do apply.
Pet owners can also leave a little heartwarming message for their furkids at the Wall of Stars. For every wish penned, The Star Vista will make a charitable donation to participating animal welfare groups, so go ahead and show some appreciation for your pets! Even if you don’t have pets, you’re also welcome to pen a wish for the animals.
You can show off your pets’ talent by taking part in one of the many contests held throughout the event weekends. I’m most excited to see the speed hamster contest and the Interstellar Best Dressed Contest or the Grumpiest Whiskers battle — which honestly sounds super adorable. There’ll be attractive prizes up for grabs so time to get trained up to score that first place prize!
