That’s right, you’ve guessed it. There’s another self-photobooth that has just opened in Singapore and they’ve come all the way from Korea — the land where the concept of self-photobooths first started. Does the name Pickypic sound familiar?
If you’ve been to Korea, or you’re a hardcore fan of K-POP groups like BLACKPINK, BTS, and Newjeans, you might have seen Pickypic’s photobooths before. They’ve got over 200 outlets in Korea, and they’ve even collaborated with popular brands and K-POP groups for fan events.
Good news is, they’ve finally opened their first outlet in Singapore along Haji Lane, joining the likes of other self-photobooth studios. However, what sets them apart from the crowd is their use of the top-notch Korean filter to enhance your features — and boy did they really nail that filter (I have never looked more flawless than this).
Pickpic has a total of five different rooms to choose from — Leaf Green, Peach Pink, Seoul Blue, Pure White, and Shine Yellow. You’ll get to choose from three different frame designs, as well as eight different coloured backgrounds. Each room also comes with its own specialised shots like bust shot (close-up shots), full body shot, and waist shot (half-body shots).
My personal favourite was the Seoul Blue room (no surprises that blue is also my favourite colour), where you’ll get to take more half-body and waist shots. In the Pure White room, you’ll get to take full body shots and it comes with a handy wired shutter release for you to control when to take your shots.
In the other rooms, you’ll only have eight seconds to plan your poses — so make sure to come prepared with poses in mind because the time goes by really quickly. You’ll also get to take a total of eight shots each time and you can pick the best shots to be printed.
In true photobooth fashion, of course you’ve got to have some quirky props to go along with your poses, otherwise where’s the fun in that? Pickypic has a super extensive selection of cute (and wacky) headgear, headbands, and glasses for you to choose from.
You can also choose to print your photos out in colour or go old-school and have the image printed out in black and white — both were equally cute. But of course, if you wanna really show off your smile and facial features, then you should definitely choose colour.
With Christmas drawing close, Pickypic has transformed their Shine Yellow room into a festive Christmas photo spot, complete with three super Christmas-themed frames. It’s hard to pick my favourite Christmas frame because they were all so pretty! The room also has special props for you to pose with.
Price-wise, each 4R print (four or six frames per print) is S$10 and two photostrips (three or four frames per print) also costs S$10. You can also have additional photo strips printed for S$10 each.
Once you’re done with taking all your pictures, make sure to stop by the black-and-white camera box and have your faces printed out on a Pickypic flyer for free.
