The photobooth scene in Singapore has really boomed in the last few months alone. Going from the regular photo strips, to themed ones like the Taylor Swift and Disney photobooths, to wide angle photobooths.
The wildly popular Solace Studios is adding not one but two new concepts into the mix. The first is a low angle photobooth — yes, I know, it’s not the most flattering angle. The second one is a fisheye photobooth — quirky or whatever.
You’ll be able to find these two brand new concepts along with the regular photobooths at Solace Studio’s newest outlet along Haji Lane. The new two-storey shop space is pretty much a self-photo studio paradise for those who love taking photo strips of themselves.
There’s loads of super cute props here for you to choose from. Plus, they also have hairstyling tools for you to use to get your hair looking picture perfect.
Yes, we get it, low-angle pics are the most unflattering types of photos one can ever take. So why did Solace Studios launch a low-angle photobooth? Well, it’s actually a pretty interesting way to take some pretty quirky pictures.
The process of taking the photos at the low-angle photobooth is pretty simple. Once you enter, you’ll be able to choose between single frame, multi-frame or ID photo. Then, instead of posing in front of the camera, you’ll have to step onto the platform and pose above the camera — hence low-angle.
If you thought the normal photobooth experience was chaotic, the low-angle photobooth takes it up a notch — but that’s what makes the whole thing fun. However, the pictures we take did turn out a little dark, but I’m not complaining as it does make one’s double chin look less obvious.
Remember there was a period in time where everyone was obsessed with the fisheye lens? Well, Solace Studios is about to make the fisheye lens photos trendy again. Their new store has a special elevator-themed photobooth for those who love taking lift selfies.
The elevator-themed photobooth was probably the most fun photobooth experience, in my opinion. But , those who have been stuck in an elevator might not exactly like this. The attention to detail in this booth was on point, it actually looked and felt like we were in a lift.
The fisheye lens photos were really a major throwback to the 2010’s. But we reckon it’d be more fun when there’s more people in the photo, so make sure to drag all your friends down and get “stuck in the lift together”! While you’re stuck, why not make a full photoshoot out of it? Solace Studios is also pet-friendly, so you can bring your furkids along too!
Price-wise, both the fisheye and low-angle, you can go for two strips of two or four frames for S$12 or a multi-frame strip where you can choose between one, two, four, or six frames for the same price.
Don’t worry, you’ll be allowed retakes for the photos you don’t like and you will also be given free digital copies of your photos to post all over Instagram and TikTok.
Currently, Solace Studios is celebrating the grand opening of their brand new Haji Lane outlet by offering a free keyring for your photostrips so you can hang your best photos on your bag and parade them around town! You definitely don’t want to miss out on that.
