Whether it’s a quick getaway or a chance to embrace life by the sea, cruises offer the perfect escape — effortless relaxation and attentive service, all in one floating paradise.

Royal Caribbean is a name that needs no introduction (especially if you’re an avid cruiser) and they’ve debuted a brand new cruise ship to replace the iconic Spectrum of the Seas.

Welcome the majestic Anthem of the Seas, boasting 16 decks with 2,090 staterooms. All in all, the cruise can accommodate up to 4,900 guests and you could be one of them if you’re lucky enough to snag a spot!

Of course, what’s a cruise vacation without devouring mountains of food? On Anthem of the Seas, you’ll never go hungry as you can look forward to a wide range of food options.

Buffet lovers, you’ll probably house yourself at the Windjammer and The Cafe @ Two70. Mediterranean cuisine can be found at Solarium Bistro, while Japanese delights are at Izumi. Moreover, don’t miss out on Jamie’s Italian opened up by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver and the steak restaurant, Chops Grille, for date nights.

I’ll personally make a beeline for Wonderland and the reason is due to it offering a unique immersive dining experience. Expect whimsical dishes served according to the five natural elements — earth, sea, fire, ice, and sun.

For a drink or two, head on over to Schooner Bar, North Star Bar and Bionic Bar. Do note that any alcoholic beverages served on board aren’t included in the basic cruise package and are chargeable.

When it comes to activities, there’s something for everyone, young or old. As a self-proclaimed adrenaline junkie, you’ll catch me at RipCord by iFLY — a thrilling skydiving simulator perched at the stern of the ship.

Or, if water is more your thing (we’re on a cruise after all), the FlowRider will allow you to surf to your heart’s content.

Families with young children, you’ll find SeaPlex to pretty much be your second home here. It boasts the title of being the largest indoor activity space on the seas and offers a roller-skating ring, bumper cars, and even a rock-climbing wall.

Not everything is about running and playing around, so if you ever want to just sit back and relax, the North Star viewing pod is the perfect place to be. Measuring over 100 metres above sea level, it’s currently the world’s highest observation deck on a cruise ship.

Now for the burning question: what rooms are available, and how much will they set you back? The ship offers over six stateroom options, including the Balcony Stateroom for stunning ocean views and the Junior Suite for a touch of luxury that won’t break the bank.

Sailing will begin soon in November, with prices for their packages starting from S$437 per person. Some of the packages include three-, four-, or five-night sails to Penang and Phuket.

There’s even an eight-night Bali Adventure Sail, which will take you along the beautiful coastline of the popular Indonesian island.
