Your next mala obsession just landed.
No need to book a flight to Chengdu; your authentic Sichuan hotpot fix is now right here in Singapore. Shu Da Xia, one of China’s top 10 hotpot restaurants with over 600 outlets worldwide, has officially set up shop at Tampines 1!
Expect a spicy, numbing, and flavour-packed experience in a modern yet traditional setting. Literally perfect for family, friends, or just you and your love for all things mala.

Start your feast by choosing between a Single Pot, Dual Pot (S$20), or Triple Pot (S$18) and dive into a variety of brewed broths (yes, they take their soup very seriously).

We went all in with the Triple Pot (S$18) and picked these bangers:
Signature Broth was the star of the show. This rich, umami-packed broth goes through a 100-hour fermentation process, creating that deep, complex Sichuan flavour with a bold, numbing kick. If you love spice, this is the one.
The Matsutake Chicken Broth was my partner’s pick. This was a lighter, earthy option, which was made by stir-frying matsutake mushrooms with chicken and stewing it for over four hours.
If you’re into nourishing soups, Dang Gui Pork Bone Broth is infused with angelica root (Dang Gui) for a rich, comforting sip. Other options include Sauerkraut Fish Soup, Tomato Soup, and Mushroom Soup, so take your pick!

We went for half portions of everything, so here’s what stood out:
Mala Chicken Gizzard (S$11 for full portion) was surprisingly good, especially with the chilli powder mixture from the condiment station (it’s a recipe we got off the internet).

Next, the Mala Beef (S$16 for full portion) looked unassuming but was an instant favourite. Tender, numbing, and packed full of flavour (cook it in the mala broth for extra tanginess).

Pair the Gui Fei Beef (S$15 for full portion) with the mala broth! It has a mild taste that goes well with the spicier soup base.
We were told to cook the Marinated Pork Ribs (S$8) for 10 minutes, so we recommend you to start with this first (we left it in for too long, so it was a little tough, but that’s on us)!

We also got other dishes like Kufung Celtuce (S$7 for full portion), Tai Chi Double Paste (S$15 for full portion), Marbled Pattern Beef Slices (S$36 for full portion), as well as the Vegetable Platter (S$9.50 for full portion) to share.

Apart from the pretty affordable selection, they are also having an opening promotion. From 15 March 2025 to 31 March 2025, enjoy 50% off all food items, excluding soup base, beverages, and condiments.
But if you can’t wait, there’s also an ongoing promotion until 14 March 2025, where you enjoy 30% off all food items, also excluding the same food items. But, this is only available from 11am to 6pm!
Will you be coming here when your next mala cravings hit?
