With 2026 fast approaching, everyone is scrambling to chase away any bad luck accumulated in 2025. After all, we’re only four months away from the new year, and nobody wants to take their chances now.
While some prefer to be present and soak in the fun unravelling in October, others are speed-running their flight and accommodation bookings to celebrate the New Year’s festivities.

As a self-proclaimed crystal obsessor and caring best friend to many, I couldn’t resist dragging my ever-supportive, patient and loving friends for some abracadabra hour and a little magic-making at Wickka Studio’s candle crystal making workshop.
How can you say no to spending time with amazing company, pretty candles and scented candles?
Candle-Making Session

Tucked snugly in a charming shophouse along Lavender Street, hidden among artsy cafes, chic interior design studios, and even a law firm, lies the mysterious and magical Wickka Studio.
It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’ve instantly stepped into Hogwarts.

The moment we stepped in, the loveliest fragrance wrapped us in awe. We were enamoured by the blend of warmth and calm that instantly melts your stress away.
The space was super cosy and comforting, the kind that makes you feel right at home.
After soaking in the lovely fragrance, the artisans beckoned us to settle down as they calmly and warmly walked us through the entire process.

Once we’d settled in, it was time to pick two of our preferred scents. The options were endless, from fresh Sea Salt to herbal Rosemary, zesty Bergamot, and many more. After constant back and forth across the myriad of scents, I finally settled on Sea Salt and Rose.
Personally, I tend to steer towards a more feminine floral scent with a whisper of relaxing ocean breeze. After selecting our scents, the artisan guided us through the candle-making process with professional ease, making the whole experience effortlessly captivating.
From mixing the wax and perfume to carefully heating our beakers on the Bunsen burner, it made us reminisce about our time right back to our secondary school science lab days.

Once our wax and perfume concoction had cooled, we poured it into our candle holders and set them aside for them to firm up.
Next steps, we moved on to the most exciting part of the workshop — choosing our crystals.
Crystal Selection

During the crystal selection segment, we were introduced to a dazzling array of crystals, ranging from Obsidian Tumbles, Aquamarine Chips, Strawberry Quartz Chips, to Garnet Chips. It was like stepping into a treasure trove of sparkling possibilities.
I was buzzing with so much excitement that I couldn’t keep still while the artisan was explaining how different crystal combinations can boost specific areas of life; Tiger’s Eye attracts wealth, while Rose Quartz welcomes a new romance into your life.

For what felt like hours, we meticulously selected the various crystals, dried flowers, and little decorations we wanted to add to our candles. Every choice felt personal, as if we were crafting tiny pieces of magic just for ourselves.

As tempting as it was to grab every crystal that caught my eye, there was a limit to the number of crystals we could actually use.
Too many crystals can affect how well the candle burns, so we were advised to decide early on whether we wanted our candle to be functional or purely as room decor.

You might be wondering — how could we just choose our crystals and plop them onto our candles without any cleansing? Not to worry!
Our artisan strongly recommended cleansing our crystals first, especially since the crystals were exposed to multiple workshop participants.
Our crystals were cleansed with a Selenite sound bowl, filling the room with soothing, calming tunes. Another cleansing method is by placing them under the moonlight, letting its natural energy do the work.

Each of us was handed a blow dryer and our hardened candle, as we had to skillfully melt the surface of the hardened candle wax.
It needed to be liquified enough for us to position our crystals the way we wanted them to be.

At long last, our beautiful, crystal-adorned candles were completed. It was such a fun and meaningful experience that we were seriously considering making this an annual new-year ritual.
The only downside? We had to be patient and wait up to two weeks before we could light up the candles and watch our creations glow.
Both the artisans were pleasant and patient with us. In fact, even the booking process was fuss-free. We secured our appointment via Wickka Studio’s website with a booking fee of S$20. Alternatively, you may also book your appointment via Klook Travel!
On the day of the workshop, you can choose the size of your candles—from the smallest jar (S$58) to the biggest jar (S$78), whichever fits your liking.

If you’re thinking of just waltzing into the studio without a booking, well, kindly don’t. Wickka Studio only allows entry for customers with prior appointments, so make sure you secure your spot before you go.
The studio is open daily, except on Mondays, so make sure to clear your schedule accordingly.
Time to bring your loved ones and craft those manifestation candles together — the perfect way to wrap up the year on an enchanting note.
