Spotted something eye-catching at BreadTalk Singapore this past week?
The beloved bakery brand has curated a unique “Hoppy Prosperity” Collection just in time for the upcoming Chinese New Year festivities, with a particularly quirky creation that has been making waves on social media.
It’s high time you “shared the huat” and spiced up your mornings with BreadTalk Singapore’s Mala Pot Bun, a unique creation that might just give you an added dose of good fortune!
The inventive Mala Pot 麻辣锅 (S$6.80) is inspired by the steamboat/hotpot typically enjoyed during the festive season, symbolising “the reunion of a family”.
It features a soft butter roll stuffed with mala chicken filling and an assortment of toppings (the kind you’d add to malatang or mala xiang guo) — surimi snow crab, enoki mushroom, broccoli, lotus root, pork meatball, shimeiji mushroom, cherry tomato, tofu puffs (tau pok), two kinds of cheese, and a mala white sauce.
Though adorable (and rather realistic) in appearance, the Mala Pot doesn’t exactly put the “ma” in mala — the chicken filling is spicy but devoid of any tongue-tingling or numbing qualities.
But we have to admit that it makes for a fun novelty snack you can easily whip out during your next CNY gathering!
