Dear Box Coffee is the world’s first-ever ‘blind box coffee’ and like many other brands hailing from China, they’re hungry for expansion. With multiple outlets already in Penang and Ipoh, JB just seems like the next-best place to head to, specifically the ever-bustling Mount Austin.
The concept is simple enough. Purchase a coffee and you’ll receive a free gift. Of course, it’s called ‘blind box’ for a reason, so you aren’t able to select the goodie you want — but where’s the fun in that?
In fact, Dear Box Coffee takes fun to a whole new level as the drinks can even come as a surprise. If you’re feeling brave or simply indecisive that day, feel free to let the store do it for you.
The drinks served here are also fun, with unique versions not found elsewhere like the Grape and Rose Americano. Lattes are available in two flavours: Pandan Coconut and Love Confused (I’m confused about how this would taste too).
When the weather is especially hot and humid, the ice-blended Strawberry or Avocado Snow Topping would be a satisfyingly cool option.
You’ll get to choose from five packages: My Happiness (S$8.63/RM30), The Noble Bachelor (S$12.95/RM45), Small Test Chopper (S$15.83/RM55), Super Big Blind (S$20.15/RM70), and Big Expensive (S$24.46/RM85).
My Happiness is arguably the most popular among consumers as it comes with a drink and a surprise gift — perfect for individuals. Want an additional gift? Get The Noble Bachelor.
Couples or duos can get the Small Test Chopper that comes with two drinks and two gifts. A third gift is provided with the Super Big Blind.
To go all out, the Big Expensive entitles you to three drinks and three gifts.
I don’t know about you but when I hear the words “free gifts”, images of lacklustre knick-knacks would conjure up in my mind. Well, I can confidently say that there’s nothing lacklustre about Dear Box Coffee’s gifts.
