Ice cream and toasty waffles — name me a more iconic duo than that. So many cafes in Singapore serve this classic dessert combination, and they’re undoubtedly super yummy, but how about a little twist this time round?
Located just a few minutes away from the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple in Chinatown, Ri Ri Cha is a new teahouse-inspired gelato cafe that serves up some really interesting combinations that you definitely want to try out — especially if you love tea.

As you step into this specialty cafe, you’ll be greeted by warm terracotta walls and traditional Chinese furniture rosewood-like benches — very apt for a teahouse-inspired space. I must say, it’s quite a refreshing take as most gelato cafes tend to adopt a more minimalistic and modern style.

When you look at the ice cream flavours available, you’ll also notice that they’re no ordinary ol’ ones like vanilla, chocolate and so on.

This cafe actually specialises in tea-infused ice cream with unique flavours like Tie Guan Yin, Peach Oolong, Matcha Butterfly Pea Soy, Mandarin Peel Pu’er, and the list goes on. Each scoop costs S$5.10 and you can get a double scoop for less at S$10.

To go with your ice cream of choice, the cafe has some really special selections that you probably haven’t seen before — Sticky Red Date Cake (S$2.50), Mochi Skin (S$1) and Steamed Rice Cake (S$1).

They even have special Nian Gao Waffles (S$6.80) and a seasonal Ong Lai (pineapple) Waffle (S$6.80). Of course, if you prefer the classics, they also have the fluffy and buttery Classic Waffle (S$6).

If you need something to help you wash down these decadent sweet treats, order their aromatic and refreshing teas like the Tangerine Black Tea, White Peach Oolong Tea and such. For cold options, there’s also cold brew teas like the Honey Canola Flower Green Tea, Tropical Fruits Rooibos and more.
