Sleep under the stars and wake up to sweeping sea views in “glass” dome tents at Malaysia’s first cliffside glamping resort

Feeling stressed and tired?  Look no further than Sea Horizon Resort, Malaysia’s first cliffside glamping resort where you can immerse yourself in nature without having to sacrifice creature comforts.

Instead of having to deal with annoying bugs, the suffocating tropical humidity and general inconvenience, glamping (a portmanteau of ‘glamourous’ and’ camping’) offers a comfortable way to experience the great outdoors.

Sea Horizon Resort takes inspiration from the “Mediterranean” by-the-sea way of living, crafting a laid-back and tranquil haven on the cliffs above the serene fishing village of Sedili Besar, a mere 1.5 hours east of Johor Senai Airport.

The resort provides luxurious, spacious “glass” dome tents with wide, floor-to-ceiling transparent windows, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the views of the South China Sea unobstructed. Just imagine sleeping under the twinkling stars, and waking up to a stunning sea view right before you!

The tent — or rather, hotel room — is equipped with everything, from a plush, king-size bed to hot showers in your private ensuite bathroom. You can also enjoy a hearty breakfast overlooking stunning views on your private viewing deck.

But here’s the catch — wifi is not provided. Why stay connected to the stressful world of emails and unfinished projects, when you can reconnect with nature and spend your days with fun outdoor activities? This is your sign to take that much-needed digital detox.

For adventurous souls, visit one of the world’s biggest water parks, Desaru Coast Adventure Waterpark, or take on the all-terrain vehicle (ATV) rides for S$26.40 (RM90)

You can also get closer to nature via kayaking S$2.93 (RM10) or cycling (S$1.47, RM5). Rope obstacles (S$1.47, RM5) are also a popular choice, offering a thrilling challenge for adventurers.

For history buffs, try exploring the quaint fishing village and historic sites such as the burning pit and Chinese temple that have been standing since the days of WWII. You should also check out the 2.5km Dinosaur Trail with unique rock formations and marine life that is just a stone’s throw away from the resort.

After a long day of activities, end your day by stargazing on your private deck, or in the comfort of your air-conditioned tent.

There are only two glamping units available for booking, so competition may be tough. Alternatively, you can opt for the chalet units and aesthetic cottages that also provide unobstructed sea views with five-star amenities.

Now you know where to go if you’re looking for an extraordinary escape that will leave you feeling rejuvenated and inspired!
