Expect tender, succulent, and packed with flavour – sinful enough to justify the extra gym session. 

If there’s one protein to prioritise, it’s the Beef Short Ribs! Hands down the standout of the spread, and it goes well with the black pepper dipping sauce.

The Truffle Mushroom Pasta with Angus Steak (S$29) is an indulgent comfort food, elevated. The truffle mushroom sauce is deeply umami and immensely creamy, clinging to every strand of pasta, while the Angus steak brings a satisfying, tender bite to round out the dish.

Seeking a guilty pleasure in every bite? Banjir Burger (S$22) is the one for you, with 2 layers of smoky and peppery beef patty, a side of fries and Banjir cheddar cheese sauce – super shiok and not too jelak. You can either dip the burger in for cheese control or drench it and let the beautiful mess happen. 

Mojitos & Mixers

Chiko Pollo’s Non-Alcoholic Butter Beer (S$10) is a beer-y clever addition to the Oktoberfest lineup. The concoction includes Ginger Ale, Butter Scotch Syrup, Salted Caramel, and Whipped Cream – not for the faint of heart (or the calorie-conscious). If you’re feeling adventurous, try the Watermelon Milk (S$7) and their Virgin Mojito (S$7), both equally refreshing.

You might expect the Fudgy Biscoff Brownie (S$8) to be decadently sweet and unapologetically rich; instead, it’s a dessert that does light.

The centre and main attraction of the menu at Shared Table is the Nourish Plate (from S$21.90). This set meal aims to serve diners with dishes that are balanced and wholesome, yet full of variety and satisfaction.

It comes with a selection of grain, 1 protein, 2 sides, and a soup of the day, making it a hearty meal for lunch and dinner, or – depending on your choices – anytime during the day. 

If you prefer à la carte options, consider some of the cafe’s other creations, such as the Protein Pancake with Caramelised Banana (S$17.90) and Grilled Chicken Skewers (S$14.90). 

The first is a sweet treat that contains 32g of protein and is served with gula melaka and peanut butter. The second features cubed chicken thigh marinated in spices and seasoning, before being grilled to perfection, and served with housemade tzatziki sauce and warm pita bread.

No matter what you choose, you can expect nourishing food that feeds your body and soul, made possible by quality ingredients and thoughtful preparation.

A selection of drinks is also available at Shared Table, perfect for different moments in the day. If you need a mid-day boost, consider specially blended coffee (from S$6.50) and artisanal matcha (also from S$6.50).

5 Special Tacos

Chef Silverio Martinez Altamirano curated the Suadero, Mexico City-style beef crisped on the griddle with a golden cheese crust – crispy, juicy, and indulgent. Chef Alfonso Portillo cooks up the Cochinada, a combination of beef, chorizo, and slow-cooked meats – rich, tender, and worth your calories. 

Chef Tamara Chavez presents the Pescado a la Talla, Guerrero-Style, grilled fish served with a savoury bean base – smoky, tangy, and deep flavours. Chef Maribel Colmenares features her Chalupas Poblanas, open-faced corn tortillas topped with chicken tinga  – earthy, zesty, and comforting in each bite. Finally, Chef Mauricio Espinoza, the founder of Papi’s Tacos, adds Carnitas Michoacan with habanero-pickled white onions – slightly fiery, succulent, and seriously good.

Tomatillo is family-friendly, with a good selection of kid-friendly dishes, and pet-friendly too, with designated outdoor seating areas allocated for your furry companions to enjoy dining with you. Do note that all pets must be kept on a leash or in a carrier at all times! The first merchandise diners and Pokémon trainers can look forward to is Pokémon Food Picks, which are available in 8 different designs. For every order of a Salmon Ball with Salmon Roe (S$2.90++) or Tuna Ball with Flying Fish Roe (S$2.90++), you will receive a random design featuring fan favourites like Pikachu and Charmander in the first wave, and Eevee and Snorlax in the second.

Pokémon Stickers are also available with every purchase of a Honey Yuzu Lemon Parfait (S$6.90++) in Wave 1, and with orders of the Mille Crepe Melba with Matcha Sauce (S$5.50++) in Wave 2. The random designs you receive could feature famous Starter Pokémon, evolutions of Pikachu, or others!

One of our favourites is Jenny’s Chicken Udon (S$12), a very homestyle fragrant stir-fried udon with Japanese and Chinese flair. You can switch up your proteins to Seafood (+S$4) for a more umami profile. The portion for this plate is good for sharing amongst 2-3pax!

If you’re looking for something indulgent and a beautiful mess of goodness, the King’s Truffle Poutine (S$20) serves up French Fries drenched in savoury beef gravy, topped with a runny fried egg, and finished with truffle shavings. 

Good Drinks

We tried the Kaya Daiquiri (S$20) for a light, local twist with a touch of pandan, and the Wasabi Silk (S$22) that transported us to Japan – especially worth trying if you like mild notes of citrus and subtle wasabi with a good alcohol kick. 

Good Dessert

Kiap Kiap knows the hype and trend that’s taken over Singapore’s dessert scene: Banana Pudding (S$6), the dessert everyone’s suddenly obsessed with, including us. Layers of lady’s finger covered in smooth cream, sweet banana slices, and addictive cookie crumble, a harmony in every bite.

Wednesday calls for Girls Night with free-flow prosecco and truffle fries, and a complimentary dessert. Mandopop takes over every Thursday with heartbreak national anthems for you and your boys to vibe out to since the relationship did not work out. The new menu, priced at S$38++ per person, includes 2 courses, free-flow mezze, and ice cream. Inspired by authentic Persian cuisine and the world’s greatest trade route, this brunch menu brings together dishes from five regions across four categories.

For the uninitiated, mezze refers to sides or appetisers, which make your meal more complete. For The Silk Road Caravan Brunch, this comes in the form of unlimited pita bread, pita chips, Persian bread, and Saffron rice. Free-flow hummus, Muhammara, and Homemade Cheese dips add to the line-up with elevated flavours, while all-you-can-eat ice cream gives you something sweet to complete your meal.

We’ve only mentioned the sides so far, so let’s explore the 4 categories on the menu! Under ‘Egg Favourites’, you will find different variations of the protein-rich food prepared in all kinds of ways. From the familiar Fried Eggs to the unique Egg Cup Cakes to the crowd favourite Shakshouka, egg lovers will have plenty to choose from. I would definitely order a Shakshouka for its poached eggs immersed in rich tomato sauce. 

Another category to consider is ‘Charcoal Grills’. Highlights include Persian-style kebabs and skewers, featuring chicken and lamb. If you like a smoky, meaty addition to your brunch, this is for you.

Prefer something more hearty and “saucy”? The Slow-Braised Stews are a compelling choice too. Opt for the Ghalieh Mahi if you’d like a Southern Persian fish stew, or the Ghormeh Sabzi Lamb for tender lamb braised with fragrant herbs and ingredients. 

‘Caravan Classics’ is the fourth and final category of the menu, and features dishes like Falafel, Arayes (crispy stuffed pita pockets), and Garlic Shrimp. Whichever category appeals to you, you can pick any 2 items from the entire menu, mix and match, and form your 2-course brunch.  

The Silk Road Caravan Brunch at Shabestan is available every Sunday, from 11.30am to 3pm. Kids’ meals are also available for children aged 12 and below at S$10++ each.
