This is absolutely peck-tacular news. Chickita — the first Asian-inspired flame-grilled chicken joint — has flown to our sunny Singapore, making its grand debut in style.
Chickita comes from a combination of two words: “Chick” and “kita” which means “Come Together for Chicken”. The vibrant interior perfectly matches its cheeky name, creating a fun, lively, and warm atmosphere.
We tried the signature Half Chicken (S$19.90), and with two sides, the total came to be S$20.90 — a fair deal for this smoky, grilled masterpiece. As expected from a restaurant specialising in flame-grilling, this was tender and juicy. Here’s a tip: shred the chicken for easy sharing and pair it with the recommended Original sauce. Though, it is flavourful enough just by itself.
Next, the Sticky Chicken Ribs with Pickled Cucumber (S$10.90) took me down on a trip through memory lane, reminding me of my grandma’s cooking. It holds true to its name, sticky and juicy on the inside, it delivers an explosion of sweet and tangy flavours in your mouth. The pickled cucumber on the side adds another layer of sourness which balances the dish well.
One of my surprising favourites was the Signature Hot Prawn Dip (S$9.90), where you either wrap or dip the grilled pita with the topping. Cheesy and loaded with creamy goodness, this was the one dish that I kept going back for.
The Signature Rice (S$4.90) was pleasantly flavourful and topped with fried garlic. Pair this with the signature Half Chicken which was a recommended hot combination. We also managed to try the Sweet Potato Fries (S$4.90), Coleslaw (S$4.90), and Wok Tossed Asian Green (S$4.90).
Other than their specialty in flame-grilled chicken, they are also known for their unique sauces. With six varieties to try out, your tastebuds will never get tired. The Original sauce is meant to evoke the nostalgia of your first love with a blend of lemongrass, lime leaves, and mixed spices found in traditional Asian households. For spicy options, try out the Dynamite, Red Dragon, and Sexy. Or, try out non-spicy choices like Lucky 8 and Tropical, which was a hit around the table.
To celebrate its opening, Chickita is also running promotions (don’t say I never jio!). There will be a 40% off full menu on 21 December 2024, 40% off Family Combo on 22 December 2024, and lastly, a free dessert of their choice on 23 December 2024. Do note that these only apply to the first 100 customers of each day.
