You’ve probably heard of DON’T LXXK UP, the viral Korean self-photo studio that was the first to popularise the top-down wide-angle photo (hello, Gen Z 0.5 selfie), by now.
Remember when I predicted more self-photo studios in Singapore jumping on this trend?
The team behind Solace Studios, the popular self-photo studio in Haji Lane that frequently holds pop-ups around the island, has done just that!
Their latest concept, PIC UP!, also located along the same stretch, is a 0.5 wide angle self-photo studio that takes photos from that trendy top-down angle everyone is crazy about. Not only is it really flattering, but it somehow also makes you look cooler than you actually are.
There are three monochromatic booths to choose from — red, blue, and yellow — so go with whichever colour that best reflects the vibe (or mood) you’re feeling that day.
Each booth can fit more than two people (although two is still the most ideal) but it might be a bit of a tight squeeze. Regardless, you and your friends should have enough room to move around and be experimental with your poses.
Do note that there will be 15 second countdown, which starts immediately once you enter the booth after selecting your frames and making payment. You’ll get eight shots with a countdown of six seconds each, so don’t be caught off-guard!
Don’t hesitate to spice up your shots with Y2K-inspired props like sunglasses, cameras, and headphones that are all free-to-use, as long as you handle them with care.
Prices are pretty standard, at S$10 for two photo strips or one multi-frame piece, inclusive of free soft copies. Do note that at the time of writing, only cash payments are available.
