If you’ve been on a food hunt for the best shio pans in Singapore, look no further because Shio & Sato is back with another long-awaited pop-up!

Run by talented Masterchef Singapore runner-up Genevieve Lee, Shio & Sato made its official debut in 2024. Since then, it has gone viral with wildly successful pop-ups.

This time, they’re temporarily settling down at The Centrepoint in the heart of Orchard.
If you’re worried about battling the winding queues, don’t worry, because the pop-up is projected to stay until January 2026.

Wondering what shio pan is? It’s Japanese for “salt bread”, and as you can guess, shio pans are Japanese-style salt bread loved for their crisp crust and buttery soft inside.
I know some of you raised an eyebrow at salt bread, but hey, don’t knock it till you try it!
If you’re a fan of the cheese foam that goes on top of your bubble tea or Vietnam’s iconic salt coffee, shio pans are right up your alley (admin can testify).

At Shio & Sato, each roll is handmade and baked fresh daily. Pre-orders are not accepted (yet), so be sure to go in person and grab a seat at their dine-in area.

Never tried salt bread before? Start simple with the Original Sea Salt (S$3.60) shio pan. Afterwards, make your way up with the kelp Kombu (S$4.90) or the classic Chocolate (S$4.90).
For the adventurous, try the Truffle (S$4.90) and Azuki Butter Red Bean (S$6.50).

While the Brown Cheese Tiramisu (S$9.90) may be on the heavier side (and heavier on your wallet), there are also less deluxe savoury options available.
Choose from the Garlic Herb Cheese (S$5.50), Tamago (S$5.50), or Green Chilli Onion (S$5.90) shio pans.

I love pairing bread with a good cup of coffee, and Shio & Sato certainly keeps things interesting with their Yuzu Coffee Tonic (S$8.50). Alternatively, opt for the Okumidori Matcha Latte (S$6.90).
Although the pop-up closes at 5pm every day, I recommend going early as quantities are limited daily.

Their Instagram stories are constantly updated with news of fresh batches, so keep a lookout here for the announcements.
Enough said, are you ready to sink your teeth into these buttery soft bread rolls from Shio & Sato?
