From hearty kopitiam fare to dessert cafes, we all know Ang Mo Kio is a treasure trove of good eats. But it seems as though speciality ice cream joints are aplenty, don’t you think?
Here’s a hidden gem you’ve probably never heard of (unless you’re familiar with the area), AM:PM Cafe.
The cheery cafe, which opens till 12am on Fridays and Saturdays, has been a reliable go-to for residents seeking a late-night dessert fix. But as the name suggests, we’re up for ice cream any time of day.
Instead of the usual ice-cream-and-waffles combi, you can find soft serve paired with puffy Hong Kong-style egglets (a popular street snack) at very affordable prices.
Pick an ice cream flavour from the likes of Blue Vanilla, Earl Grey (+ S$1), and Salted Caramel x Choco, to be served on a Classic Egglet (S$9), finished off with three toppings and a sauce of your choice — think Oreo Crumble, Popping Pearls, Gem Biscuits, and Nata De Coco, amongst many others.
You can also choose to pay extra for an additional swirl of soft serve, or even make it a set, inclusive of a drink of your choice (we recommend going for hot tea to balance out all that indulgence).
Alternatively, go for a seasonal layered parfait or two, like the Affogato (S$7) or Chendol (S$7). The former features the signature Salted Caramel x Choco swirl with a strong espresso shot on the side — it’s a fun way to get your caffeine intake for the day!
