Bagels, bagels, bagels. We cannot get enough of this ring-shaped bread, especially if it comes in the form of a hearty bagelwich.
In other words, yet another bagel joint has popped up at the hipster Everton Park enclave (home to another well-known sandwich shop), Bag Me Up.

Located a short walk from Outram Park MRT station, you can find this hole-in-the-wall bagel house at the tiny unit previously occupied by the defunct Handcraft Coffee.
Extremely limited seating is available, in the form of two benches and a single rattan chair, so you’re better off getting your bagelwiches to go.

For a bagel joint of this size, Bag Me Up serves up a pretty decent variety of beverages and bagelwiches with different fillings, some more unique than others.

But first, the beverage options. You can find the typical espresso-based coffee (like Espresso, Cappuccino, and Latte) from S$4, alongside a small selection of Milk Teas.
Unfortunately, both the White Peach Fresh Milk Tea (S$4.50) and Osmanthus Fresh Milk Tea (S$4.50) were out of stock when we visited, so we settled for the Ceylon Fresh Milk Tea (S$4.50), delicate, sweet, and fragrant, with a thin layer of creamy foam on the top.

Moving on to the bagelwiches, we were recommended the Bag Me Up Signature (S$16.50), comprising a thick slab of sweet-savoury unagi, ham, crisp lettuce, and a moreish homemade sauce that was rich, creamy, and tangy with a nice mustardy kick (like tartar sauce with the full-bodied flavour of hollandise).
The bagel itself was nicely balanced, texture-wise — chewy without being overly dense.

We also got to try the We Will Wagyu (S$16.50), which consisted of a juicy 100% wagyu beef patty (that was still pink in the middle — a good sign), torched cheese, pickles, and the same homemade sauce.
This was akin to chowing down on a cheeseburger, but slightly less sloppy (though equally saucy), and with bagels.

The bagel house also serves up its own rendition of the breakfast bagel (a staple at all bagel shops, it seems), the Brekkie (S$10.50), a scrambled eggs and bacon number, as well as the Japanese-inspired Swee N Chic (S$12.50) featuring grilled teriyaki chicken.
One thing to note is that Bag Me Up’s bagelwiches are slightly more affordable than those offered by its established counterparts.

The next time you get cravings for wholesome bagelwiches that won’t quite break the bank, you know where to go!
