You can now get the world’s first-ever conveyor belt tapas at this Italian restaurant in Fort Canning, alongside a wide variety of classic Italian dishes including pasta, risotto, pizza and more

We’re all familiar with conveyor belt sushi but conveyor belt tapas? Now, that’s something we never saw coming.

Caffe Italia is a new Italian restaurant in UE Square and they’ve decided to stand out from the crowd (and a very crowded one at that) by serving tapas from a conveyor belt. They claim this is the first time the world has ever seen a concept like this, and I’ve gotta hand it to them.

Though, I’ll admit, I was a bit sceptical. I mean, tapas is Spanish, not Italian! But hey, with the world becoming more fusion-friendly, it’s no surprise that culinary boundaries are being pushed. In fact, tapas-style dining is an increasingly popular choice in Italy.

We can all agree that the best part about conveyor belt dining is the set prices. At Caffe Italia, you’ve got three colour-coded plates to choose from: Red (S$10.50), Grey (S$11.50), and Blue (S$13.50).

While there’s no menu on what foods are served tapas-style, you can look forward to the likes of Porchetta Pork, Blue Cheese, Parma Ham, and more. And, don’t expect bite-sized portions as it looks like the dishes are served quite generously.

If you’re not inclined to sit at the bar, there’s regular seating available too, where you can dive into their full menu. Highlights that caught my eye are the Angus Beef Carpaccio (S$35), Salami (S$12.90), and Bufala Italiana DOP (S$22.50).

After all, what’s an Italian spot without pasta and pizza, right? While Caffe Italia’s tapas steal the show, their carb options are equally enticing. From the classic, cheesy Formaggi (S$27) to the indulgent Caviar Angel Hair (S$35), there’s plenty to satisfy every craving.

As a devoted risotto lover, I’m immediately drawn to the Risotto allo Zafferano (S$25) that’s infused with saffron and topped off with creamy Italian Parmigiano Reggiano.

For a sweet treat, tuck into their homemade Cannoli Cioccolato (S$15), Tiramisu (S$19), or the refreshing Affogato (S$12) — perfect for those scorching days!

So, are you ready to hop on the tapas train and taste Italy in a whole new way?
