You can find Muslim-friendly S$3+ Japanese oysters and unique DIY taco sushi with truffle scallop, ebi mentai & more in a food court at Kenji Taco Sushi

It’s not every day you come across sushi or tacos in a food court. Believe it or not, you can now find a creation that marries the two — taco sushi, to be exact — in one of Singapore’s most happening neighbourhoods, Yishun, at Kenji Taco Sushi.

The under-the-radar food court stall at Kopitiam in Northpoint City is run by the team behind Fuji Izakaya Bar & KTV, an izakaya-style Japanese restaurant in the neighbouring HomeTeamNS Khatib.

As its name suggests, Kenji Taco Sushi, which first made its debut as an F&B vendor at Singapore Comic Con 2022, specialises in taco sushi — crispy deep-fried seaweed taco shells lined with sushi rice and a varied selection of toppings (cooked, raw, and vegetarian).

You can choose to DIY your own taco sushi, starting from S$7.80 for two toppings, which include the likes of Prawn, Chuka Wakame, Salmon, and even Snow Crab Leg. Top it off with sauces like Mentai, Takoyaki, and Garlic Butter, and you’re in for a wholesome treat!

Otherwise, the curated Taco Sushi menu featuring eight flavours will more than suffice.

Sashimi lovers can head straight for the Truffle Scallop (S$5.80), which comprises raw scallops and truffle mayo, or the Spicy Salmon (S$6.90), a classic yet crowd-pleasing creation of diced salmon sashimi, spicy mayo, ebiko, and sesame seeds.

But that’s not all. You can also slurp down fresh and plump Japanese Hyogo Oysters (from S$3.90 per piece) on the side.

In the spirit of the phrase “more is more”, buying 12 pieces for S$39.60 will get you the most bang for your buck.

Although the stall is not halal-certified, all ingredients used are from its second outlet within the Monster Chili Grilled Fish & BBQ Seafood stall in the halal Bagus food court (also in Northpoint City) and are hence Muslim-friendly.
