Like many other events in Singapore, Comic Con is finally back after a two year hiatus. Previously known as Singapore Toy, Game and Comic Convention (STGCC), the organisers of this haven for all things to do with comics, toys, gaming, cosplay and more have finally announced its comeback at Marina Bay Sands on December 10 and 11 this year.
Not much is known about the event other than its date and location for now, but you can probably expect the same exciting highlights like themed and gaming booths, cosplay contests, sharing sessions, gaming panels, autograph alleys and more.
In 2019, one of the manga artists in attendance of the event was Reki Kawahara, the artist behind Sword Art Online so I’m really psyched to see who will be invited this year. Sui Ishida from Tokyo Ghoul, anyone?
The previous Comic Con events also had exclusive merchandise ready for purchase at the retail booths from action figures to comic books. If you’ve been itching to expand your collection, make sure to save up so that you can go crazy and treat yourself during the event. Plus, you get to scrimp on the shipping fees as compared to ordering these memorabilia online. Totally worth it.
As someone who’s more into the gaming side of things, I’m also looking forward to the commencement of some esports community leagues. The previous years have featured games like DOTA 2 and one of my favourite mobile games—Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (I peeped many cosplayers dressing up as some of the favourite heroes like Nana and Lunox).
Who knows, maybe this year’s Singapore Comic Con will bring in even more electrifying surprises after the hiatus. As the saying goes, good things come to those who wait. In the meantime, make sure to keep an eye out for more details on their official social media pages for updates and start working on your costumes.
