Opened ahead of schedule, SkyHelix Sentosa is already welcoming visitors now, and our team were amongst the lucky first few to experience the attraction. Here’s how the ride goes — guests will be seated in an open-air gondola which will slowly ascend to its peak at 35m (79m above sea level), and it will spend 10 minutes there for a spectacular panoramic view.
You can expect to catch 360-views of Sentosa island as well as the developing Greater Southern Waterfront as the ride rotates. Due to its height, the SkyHelix offers one of Sentosa’s highest vantage points.
Included in the ticket price is also a choice of a standard non-alcoholic beverage or an exclusive SkyHelix Sentosa souvenir. If you’d prefer something boozy, though, you can grab an alcoholic drink at the snack bar located at the foot of the ride.
For those who quake at the thought of dangling 35m up in the air, think of the ride as a steady, soothing attraction rather than a terrifying drop. There’s no screaming involved here. Even for the wary ones like our intern Cheryl, the ride was manageable and enjoyable, even, as long as you don’t look down.
Due to social distancing measures, the maximum capacity of the SkyHelix will be capped at eight instead of the full 16 until further notice. Only fully-vaccinated guests are allowed on the attraction, and there’s a minimum height requirement of 1.05m to ride. Mobile phones are also allowed on board, so be prepared to hang on to them like your life depends on it and snap away.
