Singapore now has a cat teahouse where you can cuddle with adorable ragdolls and sip on premium Chinese teas like Yashi DuckShit DanCong without paying entrance fees

Cat cafes are nothing new in Singapore but a cat teahouse? That’s where my interest is piqued, even as someone who’s not exactly the biggest cat enthusiast (please don’t come for me!).

CATEA is the latest talk of the town where you can unwind to the cutest and chunkiest cats but this time, it’s with Chinese teas and snacks instead of the usual lattes and Western-style desserts.

The teahouse is just a short stroll from Upper Thomson MRT station, making it easy to swing by and also hit up some of the popular cafes or restaurants nearby whenever you like!

What’s great about CATEA is that they’re not gatekeeping their bunch of furry companions. There’s no entrance fee here, so feel free to pop by and fondle their cat babies without having to break your wallet.

Of course, do order their food and drinks if you’re planning to stay long and cuddle up with our four-legged friends.

Based on reviews online, there seem to be seven ragdoll cats roaming around. They’ll sometimes mind their own business, while other times, they’ll happily soak up all the attention!

Playing with cats and giving them the attention they deserve requires energy, which you can refuel with CATEA’s range of authentic Chinese teas, all specially brewed using premium tea leaves.

Some signature teas include Yashi Duckshit DanCong (S$18), Spring Mountain Longjing (S$25), and Crimson Glory Rose (S$18).

I can imagine your eyes widening at the first option but duckshit tea is actually a traditional brew known for its delightful notes of orchid and honey. While the name isn’t the most appealing, I can guarantee you that the taste is quite phenomenal.

They also offer a selection of cold brew teas and tea mocktails. For the latter, Moonlight (S$22) and Love Story (S$20) are what I’ll order and it’s not because it reminds me of a certain singer (Taylor Swift *cough*).

Taste-wise, Moonlight is osmanthus infused with coconut water, whereas Love Story is a classic rose tea topped with lemons.

For those coming with a loved one, opt for their 2 Pax Set (S$68) that comes with your choice of two teas, four snacks, and two pastries. All of this is valued at S$82, so you’re definitely getting more bang for your buck (girl ‘mathing’ here).

In a group of four? Their 4 Pax Set (S$128) will keep everyone satisfied with four teas, six snacks, and four pastries.

Snacks and pastries include Honey Walnuts (S$5), preserved dried fruits like Plum with Mango (S$5) and Hawthorn Strip (S$5), and traditional Chinese pastries (S$6).

CATEA also houses a retail section where you can find adorable cat-themed trinkets and accessories to take home.
