The first is a sweet treat that contains 32g of protein and is served with gula melaka and peanut butter. The second features cubed chicken thigh marinated in spices and seasoning, before being grilled to perfection, and served with housemade tzatziki sauce and warm pita bread.

No matter what you choose, you can expect nourishing food that feeds your body and soul, made possible by quality ingredients and thoughtful preparation.

A selection of drinks is also available at Shared Table, perfect for different moments in the day. If you need a mid-day boost, consider specially blended coffee (from S$6.50) and artisanal matcha (also from S$6.50).

What is Bloomyard?

Some of you might have the same question I had when I first heard about this event – “What is Bloomyard?” Simply put, it is an immersive art experience that invites you not just to appreciate art, but to play in it.

When you visit the experience located at IMBA Theatre at Gardens by the Bay, you will step into a gigantic garden created by Graphic Rewilding. The creative duo, Catherine Borowski and Lee Baker, are known for transforming urban spaces with oversized floral illustrations.

Experience microscopic maximalism as you wander around the world they have created, filled with blooms and activities. Some highlights include flower-shaped table tennis tables, a garden mini-golf course, and swings surrounded by vibrant flowers.

You can also visit The Bloomery cafe for a break and a drink if you’d like. I foresee this will be a popular spot to take in all the botanical imagery and hang around a little longer with friends.

Before you leave, you can also drop by the Stacked Store for exclusive Bloomyard merchandise featuring Graphic Rewilding’s iconic prints. This is where you’ll have a chance to bring a piece of the garden home with you.

The new menu, priced at S$38++ per person, includes 2 courses, free-flow mezze, and ice cream. Inspired by authentic Persian cuisine and the world’s greatest trade route, this brunch menu brings together dishes from five regions across four categories.

For the uninitiated, mezze refers to sides or appetisers, which make your meal more complete. For The Silk Road Caravan Brunch, this comes in the form of unlimited pita bread, pita chips, Persian bread, and Saffron rice. Free-flow hummus, Muhammara, and Homemade Cheese dips add to the line-up with elevated flavours, while all-you-can-eat ice cream gives you something sweet to complete your meal.

We’ve only mentioned the sides so far, so let’s explore the 4 categories on the menu! Under ‘Egg Favourites’, you will find different variations of the protein-rich food prepared in all kinds of ways. From the familiar Fried Eggs to the unique Egg Cup Cakes to the crowd favourite Shakshouka, egg lovers will have plenty to choose from. I would definitely order a Shakshouka for its poached eggs immersed in rich tomato sauce. 

Another category to consider is ‘Charcoal Grills’. Highlights include Persian-style kebabs and skewers, featuring chicken and lamb. If you like a smoky, meaty addition to your brunch, this is for you.

Prefer something more hearty and “saucy”? The Slow-Braised Stews are a compelling choice too. Opt for the Ghalieh Mahi if you’d like a Southern Persian fish stew, or the Ghormeh Sabzi Lamb for tender lamb braised with fragrant herbs and ingredients. 

‘Caravan Classics’ is the fourth and final category of the menu, and features dishes like Falafel, Arayes (crispy stuffed pita pockets), and Garlic Shrimp. Whichever category appeals to you, you can pick any 2 items from the entire menu, mix and match, and form your 2-course brunch.  

The Silk Road Caravan Brunch at Shabestan is available every Sunday, from 11.30am to 3pm. Kids’ meals are also available for children aged 12 and below at S$10++ each. Located at OUE Downtown Gallery, Katsu By Kyu is a restaurant that marries Japanese tonkatsu techniques with Korean-sourced ingredients. The result is a menu featuring 240-hour wet-aged Jeju pork, daily milled Korean rice, and more.

Because the restaurant uses pork sourced exclusively from Jeju Island, it is able to maintain the consistency of quality across its tonkatsu dishes. No matter what you order or when you order, you can expect a bouncy texture and deeper umami flavours associated with Jeju pork in every bite.

Of course, if you are visiting Katsu By Kyu, you have to try their signature pork tonkatsu dishes such as the Classic Jeju Loin (S$36) and Jeju Tenderloin (S$35). The first features a balanced, juicy cut, while the second is the leanest and most tender cut available.

However, beyond pork, the restaurant also offers other dishes prepared with the same precision and technique, such as the Panko Crusted Beef Short Rib Patty (S$38) and Kadaif Prawn (S$38).

Want something other than tonkatsu and rice? The restaurant also recommends its Cold Flat Udon (S$18), served with savoury dipping sauces. If you’d like to experience both the light chewiness of udon and the crispy, satisfying crunch of tonkatsu, we recommend bringing a friend along!

From 1 September 2026 to 1 November 2026, Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) is hosting a Festival of Thrills, inviting visitors to unleash the thrill-seeker in them. This season, RWS transforms itself into a destination filled with exciting experiences, including gastronomic dining, after-dark adventures, limited-time rewards, and more.

The first that stands out to us is Into the Glowcean, an experience open at Singapore Oceanarium from 5 September 2026 to 1 November 2026. This takes your visit to the Oceanarium to the next level with after-dark moments, allowing you to see the waters and their inhabitants in a new light. 

As the name suggests, you will be able to observe glowing marine life sculptures, among other activities like neon-face painting. Returning for its 10th edition, the Singapore River Festival 2026 is a celebration of the people, places, and stories that have defined the Singapore River. Dubbed The Quay Collective, this event, which will take place from 11 to 20 September 2026, is bringing together immersive experiences, performances, and activities around the Singapore River. 

The festival will take place across 3 zones: the Entertainment Zone @ Boat Quay, Expression Zone @ Clarke Quay, and Lifestyle & Wellness Zone @ Robertson Quay. Each location will have its own flavour and energy, breathing extra life into the area over 10 days.

For instance, at the Entertainment Zone @ Boat Quay, visitors can transport themselves through time with The River Echo Chambers, a captivating 8-minute projection show on heritage shophouse facades. Through ‘portals’, cinematic visuals, and an original soundtrack, you will journey through the past, present, and future of the Singapore River.

At the Expression Zone @ Clarke Quay, another immersive experience featuring lights, colours, and sound will also come alive. Located at Read Bridge, The River Rhapsody even allows festivalgoers to influence the show with gestures and motions.

Start From Scratch by Fitness Level Up (14 Sep)

Here’s another market to look forward to. Common Rare Market is making its debut in Singapore from 18 to 20 September 2026. 

Over 200 independent original brands (fashion, lifestyle, homeware, design objects, Indie Print, F&B, and so much more) are participating, with more than 100 overseas brands from Taipei, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Seoul, and Shanghai, to name a few.

Avengers Endgame: Encore (24 Sep onwards)

The most anticipated movie in the rest of 2026 is probably Avengers: Doomsday. The Avengers movie – the first in 7 years – will be released on 17 December 2026 here in Singapore. 

And there is no better time to prepare for it than in September, because Marvel has announced that it will bring the last Avengers movie, Avengers: Endgame, back to theatres on 24 September 2026.

Titled ‘Avengers Endgame: Encore’, this seems, for the most part, to be Marvel’s way of building excitement for Avengers: Doomsday, while reconnecting audiences to the movie franchise. This is especially for those who have yet to catch up with the series since 2019’s Endgame or are new to the MCU.

This re-release of Endgame will be shown in IMAX and Infinity Vision screens and give audiences an early look at exclusive footage from Avengers: Doomsday. For me, this is definitely an experience worth going to the theatre again for.

Sanrio characters Moonlit Garden at VivoCity (Till 27 Sep)

We’ve mentioned RWS’s Festival of Thrills, but the nearby VivoCity is also buzzing with Mid-Autumn festivities. If you’re a fan of Sanrio characters like Hello Kitty, Kuromi, and Cinnamoroll, you will definitely have lots of fun here. 

That is because the shopping destination has transformed into a Sanrio-themed land, with a Moonlit Garden and Kuromi Carnival Kingdom. Located at the Sky Park on Level 3, you will find towering character displays and light installations that are perfect for photos.

There are also carnival games (S$10 each) you can play for a chance to win cute prizes, and a Mini Express Train ride (S$10) you can take and get an exclusive Sanrio Sticker Set.

Lilytopia at Gardens by the Bay (Till 27 Sep)

For all of you flower lovers, your eyes are in for a treat this September. Gardens by the Bay’s first Ancient Egypt-themed floral display has arrived. Lilytopia at Flower Dome invites you to wander through Nile-fed gardens, vivid temple settings, and lilies in every colour. 

This includes the rare Egyptian Blue Lotus, once buried alongside pharaohs. This limited-time flower exhibition started on 21 August 2026 and runs for only a month, until 27 September 2026.

Standard admission tickets to the Flower Dome (S$12 for local adults) are required to access Lilytopia. Grab your tickets here.

Built around 4 key pillars – Modern Tapas, Wood-Fired Grill, Steak, and Wine – the restaurant has recently also expanded its menu while keeping its signature dishes at the core of its dining experience.

New Selection of Tapas

To give diners more ways to start their meal at Viva Lavender, the restaurant has introduced new appetisers (Modern Tapas) made for sharing. These starters, some cold and some hot, are influenced by Spanish flavours and Asian ingredients.

A popular cold choice would be Salmorejo (S$12), a traditional chilled tomato soup finished with jamón serrano and hard-boiled egg. Prefer something hot for starters? Consider tapas like Smoked Japanese Mackerel (S$14) and Cod Fritters (S$18).

Signature Wood-Fired Grill

While dining at Viva Lavender, you can look forward to steaks prepared in a wood-fired Josper Grill. Used by some of the world’s most famous steakhouses, this type of grill is fuelled by wood, allowing chefs to control sear, smokiness, texture, and doneness according to the cut of meat.

For steak lovers, there are 8 different cuts of beef you can choose from – whether you’re enjoying your meat solo or with a group of friends. Individual options include Grass-Fed Spanish Bone-In Striploin (S$65), 450-Day Grain-Fed Shimo Wagyu Flap (S$48) and the Australian “Signature” Black Angus Ribeye (S$80).

Sharing cuts include Australian Black Angus Porterhouse (S$140), Butter-Aged “Sanchoku” Wagyu OP Rib (S$32 per 100g), and 1.6kg Dry-Aged Black Angus Tomahawk (S$28 per 100g). With the restaurant’s special wood-fired grill technique, you can expect just the right balance of tenderness and temperature.

Other Mains

If you prefer something less ‘meaty’, Viva Lavender’s menu also offers pasta, mains, and grains such as Miso Nori Spaghetti (S$30), Hokkaido Scallop Risotto (S$38), and Miso Black Cod (S$52). These dishes provide smoky, savoury flavours while allowing the natural quality of the ingredients to remain front and centre.

Much of what accompanies these dishes is prepared in-house, a testament to Viva Lavender’s handcrafted cooking style that complements wood-fired flavours. This includes sauces such as Red Wine Jus, Aji Verde, Chimichurri, and house-made chilli oils. You can expect every bite to be filled with natural flavours, enhanced with these accompaniments. 

Wine and Lunch Promos

Talking about wine, the restaurant is currently offering 50% off your second glass of house pour wine and 20% off cocktails. Dubbed ‘Viva Hour’, this promotion is available from Monday to Thursday before 8pm, alongside your food order.

A 3-Course Set Lunch is also available on weekdays from S$29.00++, featuring a soup of the day, a choice of tapas, and a choice of main. If you’re in the area at lunchtime, that could be the best opportunity to check out Viva Lavender.

In fact, I was recently planning to visit it when I found out that the restaurant is marking its first year of operations with a new menu. And after checking it out, I’m even more convinced that now is the perfect time to plan a dinner at Cavern Restaurant. Perhaps you should too!

New menu

When you visit Cavern Restaurant, you can expect a menu led by casual contemporary Western cuisine, mixed with Asian influences. The restaurant’s signature is hearth-grilled meat prepared over an open flame, so if you particularly love meat, you will probably enjoy yourself here.

Main highlights of the menu include the Jerk-Spiced Lamb Chop Pane (S$40) and the Cavern Spiced Chicken (S$32). The first is an iconic dish served with Jerusalem artichoke puree, potato cheese croquettes, and spiced pineapple, while the second is a whole spring chicken rubbed and marinated in house-blend spice, burnt lemon, and curry leaves. The chicken is then roasted until its skin reaches a perfect crisp.

For those looking for small bites or who want to start their meal with appetisers, the restaurant recommends its Fried Fish Tacos (S$18) and Salt & Pepper Squid (S$18). One promises spicy, tangy flavours with fried fish, mango strawberry salsa, and lime mayo. The other – addictive bites of deep-fried squid seasoned with salt, pepper, and curry leaf.

As always, a meal doesn’t feel complete without desserts. And at Cavern Restaurant, you can also look forward to sweet treats like What a Banana! (S$16) and Citrus Bomb (S$8). Whether you prefer a more indulgent banana chutney or a lighter lemon granita, these options will leave you delighted.

New space

Like many of us, the Cavern Restaurant also believes in the phrase, “new year, new me”. Beyond a new menu, the restaurant also now has a new after-dark arrival experience through what it calls the Oculus. This dramatic entrance is accessible after 6.30pm each day, adding even more to the already immersive dining experience.

Beyond the entrance, you will step into a space inspired by the Mulu Caves of Sarawak, filled with crystalline lights that mimic natural cave droplets.

Casa Lola, the latest casual concept by FOC Group, has recently opened on Boon Tat Street, just a stone’s throw from Telok Ayer MRT station. The vibes are cosy, the hospitality warm, and the food – deliciosa.

Started by a husband-and-wife duo, Casa Lola is inspired by one of the owner’s experiences growing up in Barcelona and all the summer weekends he spent at grandma’s. Stepping into the restaurant feels like being transported to a humble neighbourhood bodega where every dish feels authentically Spanish.

Tapas, or appetisers, are a hallmark of Spanish cuisine. And at Casa Lola, you would definitely want to start your meal with one of these. From “Salmorejo” Chilled Tomato Soup (S$14) to Crispy Suckling Pig Ear with Smoked Paprika Aioli (S$15) to Lola’s Traditional Spanish Snails with Mediterranean Herbs (S$22), there’s more than enough to get your appetite going.

One is an iconic Spanish cold soup, another an appetiser you can rarely find in Singapore, and the last one a dish filled with rich, rustic flavours. No matter which you go for, it’ll be a great start to your time at Casa Lola.

When it comes to mains, you will not be disappointed with the choices too. Highlights on the menu include Grandma Lola’s Baked Macaroni Ragù (S$20) and Crispy Deboned Suckling Pig (S$36).

The former draws inspiration from comforting Spanish home-cooked meals and childhood memories. It features slow-cooked beef ragù, macaroni, and a generous serving of melted cheese – all baked to golden brown perfection. 

The latter is for those of you who love meat that is tender underneath, yet crispy and crunchy at the top. Slow-cooked overnight, the suckling pig is then carefully deboned before being served with Port wine, sweet and tangy apple, and pumpkin chutney. 

If you’re looking for something to drink or pair with your mains, Casa Lola also offers a selection of house wines, served straight from wooden barrels. You’ll get the traditional Spanish bodega experience while enjoying your wine with porrones designed for sharing.

For those with a sweet tooth, end off your meal with desserts such as the Chocolate Cake with Layers of Manjari 66% Dark Chocolate Ganache (S$18). Indulge in the chocolatey goodness that was made entirely in-house.

All in all, Casa Lola seems to be a place where you will get a complete, casual dining experience with flavours as vibrant as the culture it originated from. Visit the restaurant’s website if you’d like to reserve a table.
