At the newest branch of MODU High, the restaurant brings its comforting signature broth comprising ginseng, jujube, garlic, and more to the hustling CBD. 

Appetisers and Shareables

Starting with appetisers, we were greeted with three dishes: steamed eggplant in soy sauce, ginger and ginseng in honey, and fresh tomatoes in chilli oil. While the combination might sound unfamiliar, don’t be afraid to dig in and experience a different (and acquired) side of Korean cuisine!

We also tried the restaurant’s Mung Bean Pancake (S$16), which is made by grinding soaked mung beans, adding vegetables and meat and pan-frying it into a round, flat shape. We 100% recommend dipping the pancake in the sauce, as we did find the pancake a little plain for our liking. 

Samgyetang

While MODU High’s samgyetang menu boasts twelve signature variations, we tried the classic Yang Vitality (S$52) samgyetang and a new item, Truffle (S$48) samgyetang.

Each samgyetang comes in a set comprising radish kimchi, in-house red dipping sauce, salt and pepper, minari salad, and glutinous rice. The best part of it all? These side dishes and condiments are all refillable! Adding on to the authentic experience of indulging in samgyetang, a small cup of soju will also be given to mix with this herbal broth. 

Opening the tender steamed chicken submerged in rich broth, we loved how easy it was to peel tender meat off the bone. Not to mention our pleasant surprise to see a scoop of shiny glutinous rice in the chicken, as we thought our side plate of glutinous rice would be all.

Dubbed the “super‑food” bowl, the Yang Vitality samgyetang pairs the classic broth with Yagwanmun—a rare Korean herb celebrated for liver support—and an extra dose of ginseng. As for the Truffle, you’ll have black truffle grinded in front of you, adding a more performative experience to your meal. Once mixed in the soup, the truffle remains an underlying flavour, allowing MODU High’s 12-hour broth to still shine. 

Dessert

At the end of our meal, the delicate dessert of cinnamon yakgwa (Korean honey cookie) and jujube tea (S$20) was served. 

If we were to compare it to a relatable dish, the yakgwa tasted like churros! Sweet and punchy, it felt like we were eating churros in a pretty biscuit form. As for the jujube tea, we imagined this to be compatible with heavy lovers of herbal ingredients, as we did find it a little bitter—much like any other herbal ingredient.

As Singapore’s pinnacle annual performing arts festival, the Singapore International Festival of Arts (SIFA) returns from 15 May 2026 to 30 May 2026 with a vibrant constellation of performances, installations, and activities. From epic productions to engaging works of art, SIFA 2026 invites all to explore and experiment with new forms of arts.

With five festival pillars: Festival Stage, Festival House, Festival Village, Festival Play!Ground, and Festival Late Nites—each area will allow you to experience the arts on your own terms—filled with free performances, public installations, and communal spaces. 

At the heart of SIFA 2026 is the long-awaited return of the Festival Village at the Empress Lawn extending to the Anderson Bridge. Serving as a free and open-access hub for gathering and play. 

Return of the Festival Village 

Inspired by the festive spirit of the 1990s and early 2000s, the Festival Village will bring together indoor and outdoor performances, interactive installations, parades and engaging experiences that extend from late night into the early morning. 

Highlighted works include: Just Keep Swimming, Just Keep Swimming《记忆游泳池》by The Theatre Practice—a work which transforms the Festival Village into a communal music and movement space; RUPTURE by The Observatory—a dawn sound installation drawing on seismic research, volcanic activity and mythology, and Makan Culture at the Festival Market—an interactive celebration of Singapore’s beloved dishes through puppetry, music and theatre.

A Festival for All

Building on the positive public response to last year’s SIFA Pavilion at Bedok Town Square, SIFA’s Festival Play!Ground at Nexus, SIFA brings two large-scale and high-impact artistic experiences from the Festival Village to Nexus, Punggol Digital District. 

Meet Noli Timere, a performance as the result of a five-year collaboration between Guggenheim Fellowship recipients Rebecca Lazier and Janet Echelman. Featuring a specially designed, voluminous net sculpture by eight multidisciplinary performers, be sure to catch the soaring aerial performance featuring artists suspended 25 feet in the air! 

From Singapore to the World: A Stage Without Borders

Local commissioned productions and international works will also take the stage to bring together an array of collaborations and culture. 

From spotlighting homegrown cultural icons such as Jacintha Abisheganade, to reimagining classics such as Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler by the National Theater Company of Korea, to productions that incorporate holographic technology and stunning stage illusions, SIFA 2026 opens up multiple pathways and platforms for audiences to rediscover the joy and significance of coming together through art.

Over the festival’s 15-day period, each day will be filled with breathtaking productions, installations, and photo spots to remember the occasion by. 

And while many of its programmes are free, ticketed programmes can be bought with a 20% early-bird discount, till 13 April 2026. Additionally, selected programmes are eligible for the SG Culture Pass, with prices starting from S$20.

The pop-up, located in the museum’s lobby, showcases five exclusive T-shirt designs (S$29.90 for adult sizes, S$19.90 for kid sizes) created in collaboration with local artists Knuckles & Notch, Gabriel De Souza, SONG, HAFI, and Nikkei. Each design reinterprets artefacts from the museum’s collection, transforming the historical objects into stylish, wearable art.

Admire artefacts such as the candlebra, or dancing woman pitcher from the Maritime Trade Gallery, or palampore and elephant head bangles from the Court and Company Gallery. You can learn about their history and significance and find a deeper appreciation for their reimagined forms on the graphic T-shirts, which you can get as a meaningful souvenir.

Spotlighting a few, Gabriel De Souza’s artwork draws inspiration from Ukiyo-e, a genre of Japanese woodblock painting, surrealism, and elements of folklore, which shine through in his vivid and whimsical design. While SONG, who blends graffiti with storytelling, incorporates gestures and symbolisations in his artwork to convey a narrative through his illustration. 

Beyond the pop-up retail experience, select UNIQLO UTme! outlets will also allow customers to purchase and customise T-shirt designs. Purchases from these outlets also include complimentary access to special exhibitions and selected museum areas, limited to 100 redemptions per month until 30 July 2026.

If you find yourself mesmerised by the designs, you can also score a free printmaking workshop with one of the artists, Knuckles & Notch. It is not a ticketed event, so all you have to do is show up! All dates and timings for the workshop can be found here.

Aiming to bring authentic Taiwanese fare to Singapore, the café’s menu features the country’s most popular flavours and iconic dishes, including artisanal fruit teas, braised pork rice, and more. 

The newest buffet launch starts at S$19.90 and includes a wide range of snacks, sides, mains, and desserts. As per the café’s chef recommendations, we tried the Oyster Mee Sua, Signature Braised Pork Rice, Casserole Tofu, and of course, Xiao Long Baos—which did not disappoint. 

The Oyster Mee Sua was thick and silky, with generous servings of plump oysters adding delightful bursts of umami as we ate, while the Signature Braised Pork Rice was covered in a rich and gelatinous meat sauce that paired perfectly with the fluffy white rice. The pork floss added a hint of sweetness, which gave the dish an extra depth of flavour that we really appreciated. 

Arguably one of our favourites, the Casserole Tofu was rich and savoury. The silky tofu was drenched in a flavour-packed sauce, creating the perfect combination that had us reaching for more.

Finally, the highlight of the buffet is definitely the unlimited flow of Xiao Long Baos. These little soup dumplings delight the taste buds with a burst of broth on every bite, making them incredibly addictive. Known to be pricier than the typical dim sum dishes, now you can eat them to your heart’s content without worrying about the price tag!

Lastly, the Signature Taiwanese Pot-Boiled Milk Tea (S$4.90++, UP S$9.90++) levels up the classic milk tea with premium tea and handmade pearls. Choose between fragrant Mountain Oolong or smoky Assam tea leaves, and enjoy the fresh brew poured directly over the chewy, syrupy pearls for a pop of sweetness and texture. This delicacy can now be ordered at 50% off with every À La Carte Buffet order, limited to one redemption per pax.

Fans of Andie Chen, you’ll also be delighted to learn that some of these dishes were developed in close collaboration with him, featuring his favourite Taiwanese dishes. So definitely check out the buffet if you want a taste of your idol’s favourite foods!

Spotlighting the signature Affogato, it’s sold with a DIY concept that lets you create up to 12 flavour combinations. Four gelato flavours: Madagascar Vanilla Gelato, Premium Korean Matcha Gelato, Callebaut Dark Chocolate Gelato, and lastly its signature Premium Pistachio Gelato—and three hot pours: Espresso, Hot Chocolate, and Matcha Pour. Their gelato is made egg-free and gluten-free, with clean, mellow flavours that can balance out the intensity of the espresso.

The -86 Coffee is a recreation of a coffee trend spreading through Asia. Originating from China, this coffee-drinking method starts with a -86°C glass, into which piping-hot coffee is poured. The frosty visuals and extreme temperature contrast had coffee drinkers everywhere hooked, and now you too, can enjoy this smooth, creamy blend.

Finally, bringing over the Butter Mochi craze from Korea, these snacks perfectly complement the cafe’s coffee selections. The sinful little buns have a beautifully golden, crunchy exterior that gives way to a chewy, buttery bread on every bite. Enjoy with an Affogato or a -86 Coffee, and you’ve got a match made in heaven.

Bellygom Pop-up 

Bellygom and friends have landed in Singapore for the first time at Changi Airport! The popular South Korean pink bear, Bellygom, known for surprising people and spreading joy, brings a delightful Singapore-inspired experience until 3 May 2026.

At Terminal 3’s Departure Hall, a gigantic seven-metre tall inflatable Bellygom takes centre stage, setting the scene for the festivities. Walk closer and you will find Bellygom’s friends pose with larger-than-life iconic local favourites, including ice gem biscuits with Ja-Ah Dochi the hedgehog, a cup of kopi featuring Daldal-Guri the raccoon, and Peranakan tingkat tiffin carriers with Malamala the yoga teacher peeking out from behind.

Built on a vision of being a home away from home, the brand has consistently projected a warm and inviting image. Today, we headed down to see just what the hype was about.

First Impression

Set among a row of beige shophouses, Cafe Mary Grace stood out with its pop of colour and homely aesthetic. As we stepped in, we were greeted by an immediate bustle of activity as the café was already filled with chattering diners.

The interior had a kind of timeless beauty that reminded us of an antique shophouse. Marvelling at the artfully arranged light fixtures, photo-filled walls, and intricate woodwork, we learnt more about the family behind the business and Mary Grace’s personal touches throughout the space—which made dining there feel a lot more intimate. 

Signatures

Cafe Mary Grace’s Singapore menu is thoughtfully designed to showcase the best of Filipino cuisine while appealing to the Singaporean palate. Signatures include the Ensaymadas (S$5.50), a sweet, cheesy brioche, and the Cheese Roll (S$4.30), which they recommend dipping into the Hot Chocolate (S$7.50). They also feature Singapore exclusives such as a Kaya Pandan Cheese Roll (S$5.30), which we had to try.

Personally, the Hot Chocolate stood out most as the hint of cinnamon added depth to the rich, treacly drink. Even compared to the hot chocolates I’ve had across Europe, I can confidently say this takes top spot. The fluffy and sinfully buttery breads indulged our taste buds with their sweet, salty flavour. The Pandan Kaya also deserves a shoutout—made in-house, it was delightfully smooth and fragrant.

Mains and Starters

Next, we ordered the Cassava Chips with Onion Dip (S$12), a uniquely Philippine creation not often seen in Singapore. We also chose the Angus Beef Tapa (S$25.50) with the option of Garlic or Rosemary rice and Sunny-side or Scrambled eggs. Another must-get shared by the team is the Grilled Chicken Inasal Focaccia (S$19.5), which consists of a grilled, tangy chicken sandwich.

Each dish blew us away—the cassava chips were light and crisp, without any hint of grease that usually leaves you feeling sluggish and the Beef Tapa with garlic rice and sunny-side-up made for a perfect savoury combination. We recommend dipping the glazed beef slices into some runny yolk for the ultimate bite.

Dessert and Drinks

Finally, the crafted drink selection created and served exclusively in Singapore caters to the local palate. Although the Ube Coconut Cloud (S$10) was the founder’s pick, we went for the Earl Grey Vanilla Cloud (S$10) and a Mango Bene (S$14.5), which, fun fact, is named after Mary Grace’s dog.

While the price may seem slightly steep, the quality makes it well worth the spend. The pastry was absolutely filled with large chunks of mango and custard cream, with thin layers of crisp meringue adding a hint of sweetness and texture. Traditionally, cakes can be overly sweet and heavy, but this was a refreshing treat after the large meal.

As we left, long lunch-queues were starting to form. The café clearly knows what it is doing. From the beautiful aesthetics to serving up absolute bangers, everything here exceeded our wildest expectations, and we can’t wait to go back.

If you’ve never heard of Wong Fu Fu, it’s the first halal-certified, Taiwanese-inspired restaurant. Since its opening, the brand has launched a plethora of fun food items and collaborations that have garnered plenty of attention.

One of its most iconic items is the Mega Bubble Tea (S$29.90), featuring 5 litres of milk tea complete with 500 grams of regular boba and 500 grams of giant brown sugar boba. They’re also currently featuring an adorable Hangyodon collaboration that’s worth checking out.

This time, however, the spotlight is on their upcoming My Little Pony collaboration. Expect themed packaging, beautifully designed mains, over-the-top drink creations, and a delightful dessert platter that’s pleasing to both the eyes and the palate.

Choose from eight snack options, from Truffle Fries with Truffle Mayo Dip (S$13.90) to Taiwan Sweet Potato Fries with Plum Powder (S$12.90), all served in an adorable Twinkle Sparkle container. Follow that up with whimsical mains such as the Superrr Magical! Korean Fried Chicken Burger (S$22.90), served with a purple bun and a Twinkle Sparkle cutie mark for an extra magical touch.

The drinks are just as bold, as they top decadent creations with fluffy cotton candy clouds. If that’s not cool enough, they also have two shimmering drinks (S$11.90 each) that are garnished with an enchanted bubble that releases strawberry-scented smoke when popped

Last but not least, their Mini Dessert Platter (S$32.90) features eight desserts—Oreo Cheesecake, New York Cheesecake, Caramel Milk Pudding, Milk Mochi Ice Cream, Strawberry Tanghulu, Layered Jelly-in-a-Cup, Lychee Macaron, and finally, Nutella Mini Pancakes—plus a blind box worth S$16.90.

So mark your calendars, as this limited-time collaboration is bound to draw crowds. Head down early so you don’t miss out on any of their magic!

Upon heading down to the restaurant, we felt like stepping into a different vicinity, surrounded by a minimalistic interior and a peaceful atmosphere. 

Accompanying Seoul and So’s attractively calm vibe is an even more enticing lunch set menu. During lunchtime, Seoul and So offers a special lunch set menu, where you’ll be served a meat of your choice, a noodle or soup dish, dessert, and rotational banchans (side dishes). 

Meats

From their S$35 Set Lunch, choose between Jeju Pork Belly and Iberico Pork Collar as your main.

The pork belly’s chewiness stood out more than anything, and consisted of a balanced meat to fat ratio. Adding on to the pork’s chewiness, it was also juicy when bit into—which isn’t the easiest thing to do when pork belly can be overcooked quite easily. 

As for the Iberico Pork Collar, we found that it tasted closer to beef than actual pork! While we were a little skeptical of having our meat grilled for us, trying the Iberico Pork Collar reaffirmed that you can trust the employees to take the wheel. 

Alternatively, top-up S$10 to opt for Short Ribs (USDA Prime) or Rib Fingers (Aus Wagyu 6/7) as your meat instead. 

The Short Ribs can be a little tough to chew, but compensates by being packed with flavour and juice! We would also recommend dipping the beef in salt, or wrapping it in spicy perilla leaf when given as a banchan.

Similar to Short Ribs, the Rib Fingers tasted best when accompanied by kimchi or wrapped in perilla leaf. The highlight difference, however, would be the fact that the Rib Fingers were much softer. 

Post-mains

On to Seoul and So’s post-mains, also known as its menu’s noodle or soup dish, take your pick among Kimchi Jjigae, Doenjang Jjigae, Mul Naengmyeon, and Naeng Kalguksu.

Comprising beef slices, cucumber, springy noodles, and icy broth, the Mul Naengmyeon is sure to cool you off amidst Singapore’s sweltering heat. The Naeng Kalguksu on the other hand, was a new flavour to us. 

Garnished with perilla seeds, the Naeng Kalguksu carried a strong aroma of nuttiness and earthiness. 

As for soup dishes, the Kimchi Jjigae seems to be well adjusted to the Singaporean palate. Not as spicy as the Kimchi Jjigae you would find in South Korea, but enough of a kick to give you the satisfaction of spicy stew. 

On to our unanimous favourite post-main, Seoul and So’s Doenjang Jjigae is a must-try for all first-timers to the restaurant. An extremely flavourful and saturated stew, filled with generous portions of enoki mushrooms, beef brisket, greens, and potatoes. Complemented with a bowl of white rice, we knew we would come back again after taking a first bite of the stew. 

At the end of the meal, you’ll be given the option to conclude your lunch with a cup of ice cream alongside a coffee or tea. 

Although we were only able to try out Seoul and So’s lunchtime menu, the restaurant is decked out with more quality meat, authentic Korean dishes, and appetising side dishes. 

So if you’re ever looking for a date activity and dinner date spot, the wonderful premise of National Gallery Singapore has it all in one place!
