This famed century-old Dutch patisserie and chocolatier is opening its first tea room and bar branch in Singapore and this is everything you need to know before they open

Chocolate and I don’t go well together.

However, this won’t stop me from trying out the iconic Dutch patisserie and chocolatier Huize van Wely when it opens in late October. The famed century-old establishment is set to arrive on our shores bringing its renowned pastries and iconic chocolate delights to Raffles Hotel Singapore.

The establishment will be located along Seah Street and this will indicate the brand’s debut in Singapore and third outlet in Asia. I find it fitting considering their rich history.

Huize van Wely was inaugurated in Noordwijk, Netherlands in 1922 and has over a century’s worth of stories under their belt. They also aren’t just your commonplace patisserie, having an established long-standing connection with the Dutch Royal Family.

Helmed by their award-winning founder and accomplished pastry chefs, Huize van Wely has spent a ton of time perfecting their craftsmanship and quality, resulting in an exclusive product range.

I don’t even need to try to know their pastries are good.

What’s unique about the Singapore branch is that this is their first outlet to blend a retail and dine-in concept. The 42-seater guarantees to provide a sophisticated experience, transporting you into a world of desserts, pastries, and ice cream.

During the day, it is an elegant tea room serving high tea sets, including a refreshing cocktail and elegantly-plated dessert. Atnight, it will transform into a bar with a range of fine wine, champagnes, and cocktails. Thus, making it perfect to visit any time of the day or night.

Unfortunately, there isn’t an official Singapore menu released just yet. However, we can look forward to seeing their cakes, pastries, canapes, and obviously their artisanal chocolates, such as bouchee, truffle and more.

Personally, I am the most excited to try out their desserts, specifically their signature Champagnecake. The cake is made up of layers of white chocolate and Moët & Chandon champagne cream ganache with a dark chocolate shell. I mean, doesn’t it sound downright sinful?
