Well, it seems the area is yet to be done with night festivities as it will host the world’s largest light, sound and multimedia eventillumi — from 13 September 2024.

illumi actually has been around since 2019, having made their grand premiere and eventual home in Montreal, Canada. I guess they’re bored of the freezing cold Canadian weather as they’re heading overseas for the first time ever.

And, what a great place they had chosen as Singapore can thaw them with our humidity.

As you head down to Bayfront Event Ground, you’ll get to explore nine themed worlds — all illuminated by 20 million LED lights. So, yes, it’s advisable to wear your walking shoes (and maybe also sunglasses) for this!

You’ll find yourself fully immersed in the culture of the land of maples and moose at The Enchanted Maples. This is probably your only chance of becoming a Canadian farmer as you’ll be in the rural countryside accompanied by farm animals and a chicken coop.

The glowing red and orange maple trees may seem a little spine-tingling at first (since it looks like a Halloween display) but the sweet treats held in the Sugar Shack will calm all nerves.

Other worlds where you can interact with animals include Puppies and Kitties and The Infinite Poles. The former features over 200 of our furry friends standing at attention for the perfect photo opportunity, while the latter lets you infiltrate a penguin family.

The Magical Forest is another luminous area filled with creatures like giant snails and nimble flying squirrels playing hide-and-seek around multicoloured trees. It seems that the giraffes, elephants and zebras have formed a clique, leaving behind the flamboyant flamingos.

I personally wouldn’t consider dinosaurs as animals as they’re more like monsters to me but you can witness their revival at The Jurassic Kingdom.

As a matter of fact, you can also make use of this opportunity to act out your Disney fantasies. Pretend you’re Aladdin or Princess Jasmine at The Dune Palace as you hang around with genies and magic floating carpets.

Don’t forget your cameras as I’m sure you’ll be snapping away, especially at the kaleidoscopic Tunnel of Colours and Walls of Lights, where you’ll have a winter wonderland backdrop.

Maybe you can consider dressing in something vibrant-coloured to stand out?

You can’t leave without paying The illumi Tree of Light & Carousel a visit. This is where you can find the world’s tallest illuminated tree standing at 47 metres tall. If you need some visualisation, that’s the height of five merlions stacked on top of each other.

If you thought illumi would just be another night show, think again. Unlike most exhibitions, you’re given the green light to touch and even climb atop selected structures as music plays over the speakers.

Tickets are already available on TremTix or Pelago. Prices go from S$25 for adults and S$15 for children aged two to 12 years old. Kids under two go in for free.

If you’re a DBS or POSB debit or credit cardholder, you’re in for a treat as you can enjoy 20% off your tickets. Do hurry as the promotion ends on 31 August 2024!

Which twinkling world do you want to visit first?
