Many of us have fond childhood memories of visiting the Singapore Zoo and Jurong Bird Park as little kids with our families. If you’ve ever enjoyed feeding the penguins, catching the exciting shows, or simply chilling with the penguins in the icy cold Penguin Coast… You definitely need to pay them a visit soon, before they (reportedly) permanently relocate from their current premises to Mandai sometime this year.
Having just been to the bird park in November late last year (because we wanted to visit it one last time before the big move), we spent an incredible day exploring the different attractions and shows at the bird park (including sitting at the Penguin Coast and just watching the penguins and their adorable penguin butt wiggles!).
Similarly, if you’re thinking of heading down soon before the big move, you can also consider making your trip even more memorable with a Staycation with the Flamingos in the park itself.
Available from 10 June to 30 July 2022 (on selected dates), make a date with your friends, family or special someone and enjoy an unexpectedly extraordinary experience.
The Staycation with the Flamingos package (from S$1099) includes a one night stay in a lovely bell tent (up to four people per tent) at Lakeview in Jurong Bird Park, park admission, guided tours and up-close animal encounters, and dinner and breakfast.
(PS: If you’re going down in a group of four, it would cost approximately S$274.75 per person!)
On your first day, check in at 4pm where you’ll go through a short registration and briefing before you head over to meet the King of the Skies at Hawk Arena, then enjoy a feeding session at African Treetops. Once done, it’s time for your dinner at Flamingo Lodge before you go for your night activities, then head back to your tent for a lovely night in with the flamingos right by you.
The next day, wake up bright and early and head over to feed the gorgeous flamingos at 8am, followed by breakfast at Flamingo Lodge. When you’re ready, it’s time for your guided tour and feeding session around the Waterfall Aviary, then a penguin feeding at Penguin Coast. Cap off the experience with rousing front row seats to the Highflyers Show and meet their mysterious avian star of the show.
It’s basically the Jurong Bird Park experience, just for those who would love to experience something different and memorable while travelling down nostalgic memory lane.
Ready for your staycation with the flamingos? I’ll see you there!
