The cafe is located just 5 minutes away from Kallang MRT and is decked from head to toe in a sea of vividly coloured flowers. Talk about eye candy.

Besides the decor, Knock Knock Cafe also delivers visually in the food department. One of their popular items is the very adorable Bear Latte (S$6.50) that come in 3 flavours: Caramel, Lavender, and Mocha.

But really, the highlight is just the whimsical bear-shaped ice perched on top which melts into the drink in a cruel twist of fate. Dog lovers might want to get their dog variation that comes with the iced chocolate.

Normal caffeine options such as Cappucino (S$3.50/hot, S$4.50/iced), Latte (S$3.50/hot, S$4.50 iced) and Mocha (S$5.50/hot, S$6.50/iced) are available if you find the cute bears too gimmicky. Or get the Lavender Latte (S$5.50/hot, S$6.50/iced) to fit in with the floral theme.

If you’re here not just for the IG-worthy decor and bear latte and want to dig into brunch, you’d be happy to hear that Knock Knock Cafe currently has a 1-for-1 Pasta offer that runs until 30 September 2021, valid for both dining in and takeaway.

Their menu is mainly Asian-influenced and you can find many local flavours in all their mains. Some interesting pasta that you might want to try includes the hearty Hae Bee Hiam Aglio Olio with Tiger Prawns (S$17), Lup Cheong and Bacon Carbonara (S$16) for meat lovers, and the Umami ‘Laksa’ Seafood Pasta (S$18) if you prefer your pasta with a spicy kick.

For those that don’t fancy pasta, they also have order interesting mains such as the Otak-Otak Burger (S$17) which comes with a sinful slab of deep-fried otah. On the other hand, they’ve also combined 2 classics in the Beer-battered Mentaiko Fish & Chips (S$17) — fish and mentaiko, you can’t go wrong with that.

And of course, it’s not really a local-inspired menu without these two — Chilli Crab (S$15) and Salted Egg Prawn (S$13) on Tacos. While these 2 have been done a million times, Knock Knock Cafe’s tacos are a rather fresh idea, to be honest.

Recently, we’ve been blessed with new places popping up all over Singapore channelling the vibes of our favourite vacation spots.

While Japan seems to be the hot choice, Around’s Tampines cafe space provides a rarer ambience. It almost feels like an idyllic glasshouse cafe hidden away in the outskirts of a trendy city like Melbourne or Seoul

Although the location says it’s in The Alps Residence, it’s accessible to the public without going through condo security. Not only that, but it’s also open until 2am!

Around cafe’s Tampines outlet looks beautiful inside and out. On the facade, it’s a sleek little metal-glass cabin that’s covered in tall windows to let light in.

Inside, the space is clean and tastefully decorated in white with understated green accents. The tall ceilings and lofty windows make it look spacious and comfy.

Other than just being extremely gorgeous, Around mainly operates as an Ice Cream Cafe, though you can also find items like Acai Bowls (S$9.90) on their menu.

They charge S$4.20 per single scoop or S$8 for a double scoop. Some interesting flavours you can find include Cereal Milk, Peanut Butter and Blueberries, 100% Arabica coffee, and Blueberry Yoghurt.

Alternatively, you can top up S$1 for premium flavours including Yakult Oreo, Peppermint Chocolate, Strawberry Cheesecake, and Speculoos.

For those who don’t like their ice cream plain, you can pair it with a Cone for S$1. On the other hand, Waffles cost S$7.90 on their own and S$11.90 with a single scoop or S$14.90 with a double scoop.

If ice cream isn’t your thing, there’s also an assortment of bakes here. Cakes cost S$7.90 and include flavours like Apple Crumble Cheesecake and Strawberry Cheesecake.

But if you’re just going to Around’s Tampines outlet to revel in those glasshouse vibes, you might prefer getting something to sip on.

Other than your standard caffeine options like Latte (S$4.90/hot, S$5.90/iced) and Long Black (S$3.90/hot, S$4.90/iced), they also have signature Mocktails (S$6.90) like Watermelon Lush and Mango Sunshine.

What makes Three Point Two stand out from the rest is that one-of-a-kind colour palette, vibrantly decked out in bubble gum pink and royal blue. Pretty much a perfect spot for those who want an OOTD for the ‘gram.

To make things even better for cafe hoppers, Three Point Two is located in Kampong Bahru, in close proximity to other popular cafes.

Unlike the minimalistic vibes of their neighbours, they bring much more energy with their eye-catching colour coordination.

But despite the bright colours, it doesn’t look tacky at all, especially with the sleek interior design.

You can add Three Point Two to your itineraries, alongside Strangers’ Reunion, Kream & Kensho and a newly-opened Plain Vanilla.

Another fun fact about them is that they’re actually opened by Pang Zi Durian, who specialise in Durian Desserts. So Durian lovers have something to be excited about.

All of Three Point Two’s gelato is made in-house and you can get a Single scoop for S$4 or Double Scoop for S$7.50, Premium flavours cost S$1 more. Meanwhile their signature Mao Shan Wang flavour will require a top-up of S$2.

Leave it to Three Point Two to leave your palate refreshed with lighter classic flavours like Watermelon Mint, Lychee Rose, and Honey Lavender.

Alternatively, you can also find the classic flavours like Black Sesame, Pistachio, and Ferrero Rocher. Not to mention their quirky Blue Vanilla flavour, if you want a twist on the classic vanilla flavour.

Of course, they also have Waffles (S$5.50) for you to pair your gelato scoops with its favourite partner-in-crime.

Besides the ice cream, durian connoisseurs will no doubt be itching to dive into the range of durian desserts at Three Point Two.

Most interesting of all is the Durian Mousse (S$5.50), a rather popular dessert recently. A decadent puree made from fresh D24 flesh would surely hit the spot for those craving a durian fix.

Otherwise, there are also D24 Durian Puffs (S$10.90/10pcs, $30/30pcs), D24 Durian Mochi (S$10/4pcs, S$55/24pcs), and Mao Shan Wang Craquelin Puffs (S$13.80/6pcs, S$39/18pcs) if pastries are more up your alley.

Caffeine addicts can also get a cuppa here, including Espresso (S$4.50), Latte (S$5.50), and Mocha (S$6). But if you want something earthier then you can get the Matcha (S$5.50) and Matcha Latte (S$6).

If you’re looking for an IG-worthy ice cream spot that opens till late, then Three Point Two is definitely for you. Or if you wanna indulge in durian in a clean, air-conditioned space, then you’d feel right at home too.

While there’s a lot of talk of places that “transport you to” those countries, none have looked as vivid as Suzuki. And people on social media are fawning over the tasteful decor.

Firstly, your eyes will be captured by the exterior the moment you arrive. Its facade looks exactly like one of the Japanese cafes hidden in the grungey industrial complexes of Tokyo.

But as the old saying goes: “it’s the inside that matters”. Suzuki Gourmet Coffee is amazingly gorgeous inside. 
It’s like walking into a different world.

The elegant wooden decor and the light spilling in from the tall windows — almost feels like a zen little spot in Kyoto.

Every part of the interior at Suzuki Gourmet Coffee is intricately designed to remind you of that iconic Japanese Zen teahouse ambiance.

The whole ensemble of the communal sitting space and window-side seats scream aesthetic. And those sliding doors aren’t normally found even in the other Japanese cafes in Singapore.

It’s especially captivating with the beautiful fixtures like the Bonsai plants and the water feature. It’s almost like a miniature Japanese garden can be found in the middle of Suzuki Gourmet Coffee.

However, they aren’t technically a new opening. They’ve actually existed since 1979, and are one of the oldest coffee roasters in Singapore. But Suzuki Gourmet Coffee had decided to revamp this year and came up with this new teahouse-inspired concept.

The coffeehouse’s espresso-based drinks use single-origin Arabica coffee beans roasted in-house. What makes their coffee even more special is the use of Hokkaido Milk. It’s a creamier choice only a handful of cafes in Singapore use.

You can find the typical coffee options like Hokkaido Latte, Cappuccino, or Flat White for S$8. Alternatively, if your tummy isn’t fond of dairy, then maybe get a Long Black for S$7.

Suzuki Gourmet Coffee also offers switches from Hokkaido milk to Japanese Soy Milk at no additional charge.

Besides the Espresso-based drinks, they also offer a selection of Filter Coffee using lighter roasts. Some include Kenya (S$8.50), Yemen (S$9.50), and the ubiquitous and easy-to-drink Ethiopian (S$8.50).

If you want a bit of tea to match the Kyoto teahouse vibes at Suzuki Gourmet Coffee, they also have classic tea latte options. Choose your tea fix from the simple Matcha and Hojicha Lattes (S$8/S$9 for iced), or the spruced-up Anmitsu Matcha and Hojicha Latte (S$9/S$10 for iced).

It’s great that Suzuki Gourmet Coffee went through with their revamp while where we’re trapped in Singapore. If you’re missing Japan, then the Zen teahouse vibes are just the medicine you need for your wanderlust illness.

Some of us might remember going to Upper Thomson for cafe hopping when it was the most popular hot spot. It’s not as big of a hot spot anymore but people still flock there for classics such as Columbus Coffee Co. and Habitat Coffee.

But maybe it’s time for a little trip down to Upper Thomson. Gentle Roast is one of multiple new openings recently and they’ll make for a nice cafe hopping trail, like old times.

And oh boy, does Gentle Roast look lovely. Your insta feed would love the white background, as well as the streaks of gold that give it a modern edge.

It’s not just golden trimmings — the cafe is complete with golden neon lights on the wall. However, the most eye-catching part of the cafe have to be the golden-trimmed birdcage chairs. Imagine your OOTDs here.

Gentle Roast has a pretty diverse menu, which ranges from the usual brunch suspects to heartier burger options.

For sure, the Sourdough Toast (S$20) and Egg Benedict (S$18) will be two familiar comfort foods that will attract many cafe goers.

However, the most interesting item on the brunch menu has to be the Crabcake Rosti (S$22). It comes with rosti, hand-molded crab cakes, together with turkey bacon and sausages. Unfortunately, it’s not available for the moment.

On the other hand, there are some more exciting flavours on Gentle Roast’s pasta menu. If you love mushroom, truffles, and creamy pasta, then the Shroomy Truffle Carbonara‘s (S$20) triple threat of flavours would be right up your alley.

Another one is the very local-inspired Ducky Indon (S$18), an item on the Gentle Roast Signature menu. The pasta is a fun combination of smoked duck, special Indomie sauce, fried shallots, and poached egg.

There’re also the more standard choices of Seafood Aglio Olio, Chicken Pomodoro and Chilli Crabby (S$16).

After you’re done with the mains, it’s only natural you’d want dessert. One of Gentle Roast’s most beautifully-made bakes here has to be the Matcha Cake ($7.80).

It’s absolute eyecandy looking at the square block of matcha chiffon sponge, layered with matcha white chocolate ganache. The cream and icing sugar were just the cherry on the cake, kinda.

For the caffeine, junkies you can get your fix here with the classics like Americano ($3.90), Latte ($5), or Flat White ($5). Their beas are sourced from Guerilla Coffee, a home-grown brand which supplies many speciality coffee places locally.

If you’re looking to head down to Upper Thomson for a cafe hopping sesh — there’s no better time than now. With the new opening of places such as Gentle Roast, the neighbourhood may be up for a facelift.

Whilst “industrial chic” has been so so overdone, Equate Coffee’s take on the minimalist aesthetic and stylish branding sets a new benchmark for all future cafes.

Most striking of all is the wall which greets you at the door—raw, exposed concrete with an angular cavity as the entrance.

Inside, Equate Coffee opted to dress itself in a greyscale spectrum, peppering elegant streaks of gold to complement the high walls like an idyllic, minimalist daydream.

The beautiful decor definitely reminds you off a spruced-up Korean-style café.

For their espresso, Equate Coffee uses a blend of Brazil and Sumatra beans. An interesting blend, with Sumatran beans growing in popularity due to their deep richness.

They serve the espresso blend in their Black (S$4.50/6oz), White (S$5/6oz), and Mocha (S$5.50/6oz). 8oz versions costs S$0.50 more, as do additional espresso shots (S$0.50).

For alt milk, Equate Coffee offers Oat or Soy Milk at S$1, similarly Ice also costs an additional S$1.

Alternatively, if you’re still reeling from caffeine from earlier, go for choices like Chocolate (S$5), Earl Grey Tea (S$5.50), and Ginger Lemon Tea (S$5.50).

Furthermore, unlike many other new coffeehouses nowadays, Equate Coffee has a strong focus on pastries as well. It’s even more admirable that they bake them in-house.

They have 2 permanent items right now in the Canele ($4) and Mount Ondeh ($7). These intricately crafted treats are perfect for your instagram feed.

The Mount Ondeh is a unique pandan sponge that can be cut open to expose a cream cheese core. Fans of local flavours would enjoy the shaved coconut and drizzled Gula Melaka.

They also have a rotating cast of pastries besides the two. At the moment, it’s an soft and tea-fragrant Earl Grey Cake (S$4).

Equate Coffee’s keen eye for branding and very well-curated menu will appeal to many café hoppers in the area. Good vibes + good coffee = good times.
