We may cover a ton of value-for-money buffets, but it’s hard to come across offerings that don’t skimp on both quality and quantity. One buffet spot that checks both boxes is Azmaya, a rare find.

The Japanese restaurant with two outlets in Robertson Quay and Cuppage Plaza has launched an all-you-can-eat 90 minute buffet featuring Gunma and Kagoshima Wagyu and Snow Crab for just S$68++.

Although the word “buffet” might be enough to get whipped you into a frenzy, it’s the gorgeously marbled A4 Japanese Wagyu Beef that takes center stage here — it is sliced to order, so you can expect only the freshest cuts!

These prime cuts are accompanied by chewy Beef Tongue, which I personally enjoy with a squeeze of citrus.

Non-beef items are also available, like Pork Collar, Pork Belly, Chicken, Squid, Prawns, and Clams.

Of course, you’ll also to tuck into free-flow Snow Crab, along with assorted Sashimi.

All meat and seafood items can be grilled as yakiniku, or simmered in shabu-shabu, with a variety of soup bases like bonito flakes, tonkatsu, seaweed, and my go-to, sukiyaki. Regardless of which cooking method you prefer, each table will be equipped with both a hotpot cooker and a mookata-style grill.

Feel free to load up on all the vegetables you can manage, from the usual hotpot staples like cabbage, enoki mushrooms, and nai bai, to sides such as edamame and kimchi.
White rice is also available, but you can approach the staff to order hot foods or add-ons like Deep Fried Gyoza, Fried Chicken, Curry, Udon Noodles, and Egg. Order more if you want to make the most out of your buffet at Azmaya, but remember not to waste anything!

You can also find a DIY condiment station stocked with a wide assortment of Japanese pastes, oils, garnishes, and sauces.

There are a couple of recipes to try if you’re feeling uninspired — we loved the spicy, creamy, and nutty Stamina Sesame Sauce, a combination of goma sesame, chilli oil, garlic, sesame, and garlic oil.

Due the cuts of meat served being on the thinner side, we found ourselves enjoying them as shabu-shabu over the yakiniku grill. However, if you find yourselves receiving a plate of extra fatty wagyu with a disproportionate fat-to-meat ratio, the grill is your best bet.

And if you’re the sort who must enjoy shabu-shabu and yakiniku with a drink or two in hand, opt for the all-you-can-drink Alcohol Buffet for an additional S$40++. Choose from an extensive selection of sake, umeshu, highballs, shochu, cocktails, wine, and beer, so there’s something for everyone, no matter how playful or potent.

Every Monday to Wednesday, drop by for an extended Ladies Night, with drinks like shochu cocktails, beer, highball, wine, plum wine, and sake going from just S$1.90 per glass with a minimum of S$20 spent on food.
I’d highly recommend giving the buffet at Azmaya a try, especially if you are a beef lover who can load up on wagyu for 90 minutes straight.
