This famous Singaporean restaurant opens its second outpost in Changi Airport serving local hawker delights like Mandarin Chicken Rice, Signature Laksa and more before your flight

Without a doubt, many would agree that chicken rice is for sure Singapore’s national dish, or at least one of the top few.

And this restaurant, in particular, has made a name for itself for serving the most expensive chicken rice in Singapore. Chatterbox Express has combined the timeless essence of tradition and modernity, and is now taking off to higher heights landing in Changi Airport Terminal 1.

This marks Chatterbox’s first expansion domestically outside of its original branch at Hilton Singapore.

No matter how diverse my diet has become, local delights always have a soft spot in my stomach. This is what Chatterbox excels in — they have over five decades of experience in crafting and perfecting their recipe to curate a collection of authentic Singapore delicacies.

With this new expansion, they aim to widen their reach to target global travellers by transforming their offerings into a quick and convenient dining experience while still keeping that touch of genuine local heritage.

Of course, we have to talk about their signature, Mandarin Chicken Rice (from S$13.80 for ala carte) or as a set with Soft Boiled Eggs and Kopi or Teh from S$16.80. Honestly, the most expensive chicken rice I’ve tried hasn’t gone past double digits so this seems like a whole new world for me. But if you’re feeling boujee, this would be a great option to consider.

But what stood out to me the most is their Heritage Kuehs, which is a collaboration with acclaimed Chef Damian D’Silva, homemade with 100% fresh coconut milk. This would also make a perfect gifting option that comes in a set of two (S$4) for dine-in purposes or boxes of eight (S$16) or twelve (S$24) should you opt for takeaway instead.

Or, if you are in the mood for breakfast, they also offer options like Kaya Butter Toast (S$4.50 for ala carte, $7.50 for set), Chicken & Egg Congee with You Tiao (S$9 for ala carte, S$12 for set), and more. Do note that all sets include Soft Boiled Eggs and Kopi or Teh.
