I hate to break it to you, but the CHIJMES outlet of cult-favourite tea specialty cafe Hvala is no more.

But don’t fret, for they’ve simply moved across the road (well, sort of) to Odeon Towers, an office building along North Bridge Road.

This flagship outlet is super spacious, with plenty of seating areas, including tatami-style floor seats and communal tables, as well as a dedicated retail section.

You’ll be able to enjoy their signature drinks and desserts like the bestselling Matcha Hojicha Latte (S$6.90), Dairy-Free Waffles (S$15.80) with gelato, and cakes in flavours like Goma, Yuzu, and Sakura.

Black sesame lovers will absolutely adore the Goma Parfait (S$15.80), which sees a trio of goma gelato, vegan goma cream, and goma cookies on chocolate hazelnut crumble, with charcoal tuile and white sesame seeds.

We can foresee many going for the new outlet-exclusive Matcha Kaya Toast (S$9.90), toasted brioche slathered in matcha kaya with thick slabs of butter, served alongside soft-boiled eggs.

The best part? You can now visit Hvala not just for dessert, but also dinner. Take your pick from a selection of hot food options like Miso Butter Mushroom (S$12.90), Salmon Shio Yaki (S$13), and A5 Negi Wagyu (S$27), alongside a range of chazuke and sashimi udon.

For the unintiated, chazuke is a traditional Japanese dish consisting of rice and seafood topped with a tea-based broth (Hvala’s signature Yuki matcha, in this case).

All chazuke options are served with ume, pickles, seaweed flakes, and artisanal crisps, and you can choose from the likes of Aburi Salmon (S$17.90) with Scallops (S$22.90) and Ikura Ebi (S$26.90), or even Grilled Teriyaki Chicken (S$18.90), and Mushroom Tofu (S$16.90)tons of flavour combinations that’ll leave you feeling spoilt for choice.

If you prefer something refreshing, go for the Cold Salmon Sashimi Udon (from S$17.90), which pairs salmon sashimi “noodles” and assorted vegetables in a house-made cold ponzu broth.

Feel free to jazz it up with ingredients like Ebi (S$22.90), Scallops (S$22.90), and A5 Negi Wagyu (S$35.90).

I for one can’t wait to visit Hvala Odeon, and perhaps treat myself to a tin of ceremonial-grade matcha powder or two — what about you?
