Not gonna lie, I’ve always thought the work of Naval officers was pretty cool. They get to embark on sea expeditions in cool vessels, explore the underwater “world” in a submarine and so much more!

Taking place on 5 May 2024 at the Singapore Navy Museum, Navy Day 2024 will host a sea of thrilling activities (no pun intended) that will take you on a one-of-a-kind behind the scenes tour of our very own Singapore Navy.

To give you some context, Navy Day is a special day dedicated to honour and appreciate the hard work of all our strong and resilient naval pioneers — past and present.

So why on 5 May? That’s because the Singapore Naval White Ensign was raised for the first time 5 May 1967 at 5.55pm. You’ll also learn more about the rich history of the Singapore Navy and maritime defence.

The Singapore Navy Museum is filled with captivating galleries and showcases that really bring Singapore’s rich naval heritage to life. Inside the museum, there will also be a Navy’s Crucible Presentation where you’ll get to witness ship models come alive in an engaging sharing session with seasoned experts.

Friends of Singapore Navy Museum will also be sharing some riveting stories behind legendary vessels like the RSS Daring and RSS Sealion, you definitely don’t wanna miss out on that.

There will also be an interactive trail taking place titled Beyond The Blue where you’ll be sent on a little exploration around the museum to uncover clues and facts.

If you successfully complete the trail*, you can stand a chance to win a limited edition Captain Simon Bearit’s super cute by the way so you don’t wanna miss this. This is available while stocks last and terms and conditions apply. More details can be found here.

I don’t know about you but I’ve always wanted to don the R.S.S Singapura Hat and pretend like I’m a navy officer aboard the submarine. So, imagine my excitement when I found out that we can create our own RSS Singapura hat at Navy Day 2024 — my inner child is screaming.

This unique hands-on experience will let you create your version of the iconic headwear once donned by naval officers in the past, so feel free to let your creative juices flow here.

Other exciting activities include a showcase by renowned military memorabilia collector Alvin Lee,  Anchors Aweigh: A Journey Through Naval Tales veteran sharing session, a captivating musical performance by the Singapore Armed Forces Central Band Clarinet Ensemble and so much more!

No festival is complete without food and drinks, so how does Old Chang Kee and Milo sound? Well, you can expect to satisfy your tummies with some yummy local favourites from the Old Chang Kee food truck.

But of course, the one that everyone will be queuing for is the iconic and legendary Milo Truck from 12.00pm to 2.00pm only — that’s right, they’re gonna be at Navy Day 2024 too!

Once again, Navy Day 2024 will be taking place on 5 May 2024 at Singapore Navy Museum from 10 am to 5pm. If you’ve always wanted to explore the inside of the naval vessel or have some burning questions to ask our navy officers, now’s your chance! Plus, the event is free, need we say more?

For those who are planning to head down to join in the festivities, you’re strongly recommended to take the free shuttle bus service from Expo MRT station, available from 9.30am onwards.

If you can’t make it for the actual Navy Day celebrations, don’t worry. You can still catch some of the action over at the Navy Showcase at Expo MRT Station. It’s a very immersive exhibition as the entire station has been transformed into a ‘mini-Navy museum’ of sorts, complete with AR filters and games, 3D submarine models and more!

Are you ready to set sail in a submarine?
