When it comes to Korean-Chinese fusion cuisine like jjajangmyeon and jjampong in Singapore, O.BBa Jjajang is probably one of the top contenders.
This restaurant is so popular that you’re bound to see snaking queues every time you drop by their outlet at Tanjong Pagar (I’ve tried visiting at non-peak hours as well but still had to queue for at least half an hour!).
Recently, I’ve also been pleasantly surprised to see instant versions of their popular jajangmyeon and jjampong at Korean supermarkets like K-Market and Koryo Mart — and that’s not the end of O.BBa Jjajang’s surprises. You can now enjoy the restaurant’s delicious dishes at half the price at O.BBa Jjajang Express.
The O.BBa Express kiosk is located within the Koufu HQ food court at Woodlands and carries many of their signature menu items like Jajangmyeon (S$7.50), Jjampong (S$9.90), Tangsuyuk (S$13) and more. (For reference, the usual Jjampong at the O.BBa Jjajang restaurant is S$18, not including service charge and GST.)
The storefront of O.BBa Jjajang Express looks kind of like a run-of-the-mill food court Korean stall, but the menu is definitely something special. I mean, how often do you see Korean food stalls at the food court selling Korean-Chinese fusion dishes? Gochu Jajangmyeon and galbi dumplings at Koufu or Food Republic? Definitely haven’t seen that before.
If you’re not feeling the Korean-Chinese fusion dishes that day and just want some good old Korean fare, the express kiosk’s menu also consists of traditional Korean dishes like Kimchi Dumplings (S$2.50), Kimchi Fried Rice (S$8), Ramen (S$6.50) and many others.
The opening of the express kiosk couldn’t have come at a better time. Rainy season and a warm, hearty bowl of jjampong? Yes please!
