USS now has a Christmas market where you can snack & shop in between rides

by Vera

In the spirit of Christmas and all its joy, yet another Christmas market pops up to join the scene, and this time it’s Universal Studios Singapore‘s Festive Market featuring a collection of eight F&B vendors and retail stalls for you to visit while you’re taking a break from all those rides. Each stall has a USS-exclusive dish, product, or bundle — so this is your only chance to try or snag these specials while you’re in the theme park. Here’s what you can expect from the USS Christmas market.

Food & beverage

Indocin

As its name suggests, Indocin offers Bak Mee (S$8), a quintessentially Indonesian-Chinese dish that’s akin to the bak chor mee or kolo mee that we Singaporeans know and love. Tossed in a special hae bee hiam sauce, this bak mee is served as hyper-savoury dish, in an adorable takeaway cup for your munching convenience.

Century Bakkwa

Aside from a decadent selection of bakkwa, Century Bakkwa also boasts warm, fluffy Croffles (S$6) — a croissant waffle cross — that come with both sweet and savoury dips such as Nutella, truffle cheese, and the our recommended selection of mentaiko mayo.

Restaurant Salt

If Restaurant Salt sounds familiar, that’s because they’ve been on an innovation roll — first launching their work from home delivery kits, then hosting local cuisine pop ups such as Hai Kee Chicken Rice and Old Hock Kee Bak Kut Teh. Now, the cloud kitchen has landed at the Christmas market, and is serving their signature garlic butter cream cheese buns with a twist.

A Christmas special and USS-exclusive, the Truffle Garlic Bun (S$9) presents a fragrant umami bite against a creamy, slightly tangy centre, while a piping bowl of Mee Sua (S$5) comes served in a compact bowl for easy snacking. For an uber-Christmas touch, grab a bottle of the Peppermint Mocha (S$7.50) to tide you through your activity-packed day.

CocoBoss

The question of the hour is, who hasn’t had a coconut shake to date? With coconut-centric beverages dominating the market these days, it does seem like the coco shake has taken over as the new bubble tea of the era. CocoBoss offers a refreshing range of coconut-ty drinks, but one that stands out is the USS-exclusive Popcorn Fiesta (S$6.90) shake that celebrates caramel notes against a pop of coconut.

Le Matin Patisserie

Helmed by Singaporean chef Mohamed Al-Matin who trained at Le Cordon Bleu in Sydney, Le Matin Patisserie specialises in French viennoiserie in innovative flavours that are baked fresh daily. The special USS-exclusive Amazake Soft Serve with Croissant Cone (S$10) is made from fermenting croissants with koji overnight, resulting in a unique slightly tangy, creamy flavour profile.

Other special festive attractions

Apart from the market, there are also limited-edition festive booths set up around the village featuring favourites from the Universal Studio franchise; the adorable minions and classic Sesame Street characters. There’s a special feature though — simply scan the QR code, position yourself according to the marker on the floor, point your camera at the themed set up, and watch it come to life.

Also, regardless of whether you’ve been naughty or nice this year, the time has come to post your wish list to Santa via USS’ North Pole Postal Service. There’s no guarantee that Santa will actually get to it, considering the long list he has to tend to globally, but you can take comfort in knowing that he’ll at least try.
