Marvel Studios just released a two-minute trailer for Black Widow.
Fans of The Avengers will never be able to forget Black Widow’s untimely demise on planet Vormir, where she and Hawkeye bid a traumatic, excruciating and heart-shattering goodbye. But it’s time to dry your tears because Black Widow will be coming to cinemas on 9 July 2021.
Here’s the trailer.
Unfortunately, our favourite redhead will not be resurrected. Instead, we’ll travel back in time to learn about the secrets of her past and the “unfinished business” she has before she became an Avenger.
Black Widow 2021
The story is set after the events of Captain America: Civil War. In the two-minute trailer, Scarlett Johansson’s character Natasha Romanoff declares “You don’t know everything about me, I’ve lived a lot of lives,” — which hints that Romanoff will be confronting her history and going back to “where it all started.”
We all love a superhero that’s brilliant, perfect and powerful. But what makes them relatable and human is when we see a fracture of their soul. Despite her strong outlook, we’re expecting to see Black Widow struggle with the darker parts of her life and the relationships she had to sacrifice in her wake.
For those who are not familiar with the Marvel Universe, Natasha Romanoff was born in the Soviet Union as Natalia Alianovna Romanova and was orphaned as a child. She was then rescued during an attack on Stalingrad and brought up by a man named Ivan Petrovitch Bezukhov, who looked after and trained the girl.
Years later, Romanoff gets kidnapped by the Hand, a supervillain organisation, and is brainwashed into being a ruthless assassin with no emotions, essentially morphing into a killer machine. This explains the hard and steely composure that Black Widow portrays.
We all know that The Hulk has a special place in Black Widow’s heart, but since we’re travelling back to the past, we will not be seeing him in this film. Instead, we may see Nikolai, a young soldier that’s supposedly Romanoff’s first love.
