This halal Taiwanese jelly dessert spot allows you to DIY your own bowl with unique toppings like matcha, taro, osmanthus jelly cubes, lychee pops & more

Taiwanese food and desserts have been on a roll in 2023, with the opening of brands like Shinfuni, Ah Zhong Mian Xian and the (still) very crowded TaiWan Night Markets in Singapore.

Well, the momentum is not losing steam, because here’s another Taiwanese dessert spot to add to your list — the sister brand of Mr Bean, Do Qoo!

The halal-certified Do Qoo offers traditional Taiwanese desserts but with a contemporary twist. Although their famous sweet abacus seeds have not been back since the early months of 2023, you definitely can look forward to soft, flavourful taro and matcha jellies.

You can start with their five signature bowls that are all priced at S$4.30Matcha Made in Heaven, Yours Taroly, Golden Beauty, Snow Fairy and Loving Youth

Matcha Made in Heaven is exactly as its name describes. It’s a matcha lover’s idea of heaven with a grass jelly and soy pudding base, topped with generous scoops of matcha jelly, adzuki beans and chewy taro and sweet potato balls.

Golden Beauty is also one of the more popular options, with the same grass jelly and soy pudding base, but topped with fragrant osmanthus jelly and juicy lychee pops that will burst with one bite!

Snow Fairy and Loving Youth are healthier choices, with nutritious toppings like snow fungus, aiyu jelly, peach gum and more. But of course, for a matcha fanatic like me, I’m definitely creating my own bowl of dessert with heaps of matcha jelly.

You can DIY a bowl of dessert for just S$4.30. Pick two bases and two toppings (taro cubes will be given for free!) to complete your bowl. Other than the ones we’ve mentioned, there’s plenty more toppings like brown sugar jelly, longan, mango sago and more.

Don’t forget to drizzle soy cream on top before you dig in — it adds a creamy flavour that pairs extremely well with the toppings.

If you are looking for more traditional desserts, they have Glutinous Rice Balls in Black Sesame Paste (S$4), Sweet Corn with condensed milk or butter (S$3.30), and single base aiyu jelly, grass jelly, and soy pudding desserts (from S$3).
