Singapore is a stressful place, so we all need an outlet to relieve stress and just enjoy life. Many people do so by travelling (I’m one of the culprits) or working out, while others direct their attention to good ol’ gaming and collectibles.
For those belonging to the latter group, you’re gonna want to come down to this hobby store in Johor Bahru the next time you cross the border.
Impulse Gaming is nothing new in JB’s gaming and hobby scenes, having already two outlets in Toppen Shopping Centre and Taman Pelangi. Their third outlet recently opened at Mid Valley Southkey is the flagship, which means that the space is huge.
It’s huge, alright. Because you can pretty much find everything and anything you want here — in terms of gaming and collectibles, of course.
Be it a Nintendo Switch, Playstation 5 or Xbox console, they’ve them all, on top of gaming accessories, equipment and games.
For the last point, be prepared to be spoiled for choice as they carry a wide selection of both new and old titles suited for all three consoles.
If you’re looking to get the most bang for your buck, you can get your hands on discounted second-hand games and consoles too (plus, it’s eco-friendly!).
PC gamers, you aren’t left out. Aside from offering gaming laptops, headsets and keyboards, the store also has live streaming equipment like microphones and webcams that may come in handy if you’re ever planning to shoot ‘Let’s Play’.
All of these equipment are from established brands like Razer, Logitech and ROG, so you know you’re getting the pick of the litter.
Oh, and they’ve a selection of gaming chairs as well —- in case you’re wondering.
In fact, you can even play games in the resting area beside the PC station, fitted with armchairs and consoles.
When it comes to collectibles, you’ll surely be overwhelmed with the choices. Not only are there anime-related merchandise, Gundam model kits and LEGO sets, but also a ton of POP MART blind boxes to choose from.
When I say a ton, I really do mean a ton as you’ll no doubt find your favourite characters here. Be it Disney, Sanrio, Molly, Dimoo or LABUBU, they’ve got them.
You can also find all sorts of plushies to cuddle with, such as the giant Lotso from Toy Story, My Melody and Cinnamoroll (my buddy!) from Sanrio, Pikachu and many more.
A whole row of Gachapon machines and an Ichiban Kuji wall are displayed inside the store too. The latter is essentially a Japanese lottery game in which you’ve to draw a ticket to win a prize.
