OBBA Jjajang Express opens in Punggol with its famed jjajangmyeon, tangsuyuk & more at wallet-friendly prices

With outlets in Bukit Timah and Tanjong Pagar (the OG), O.BBa Jjajang is arguably the go-to resto for those looking to satisfy their jjajangmyeon cravings. I mean, just look at the queues, even during off-peak hours!

You may have also visited OBBA Jjajang Express in Woodlands, which gives diners the option of enjoying the restaurant’s Korean-Chinese signatures in a no-frills food court setting, but at half the price.

Here’s a piece of good news — Northeast-siders will be delighted to know that the same “express” concept has sprouted up in Punggol (so there’s no need to travel all the way to the North for your jjajangmyeon fix).

Located within One Punggol Hawker Centre, this particular OBBA Jjajang Express boasts a smaller, more condensed menu that focuses on the three signature dishes.

Go for the iconic Jajangmyeon (S$6.80), comprising chewy handmade noodles topped with diced pork, vegetables, and a thick chunjang (black soybean paste)-based sauce. Top it with a Fried Egg (S$1) or Fried Sausage (S$1.80) if you like.

Don’t forget to save some room (or make a second visit) for the crowd favourite Jjamppong (S$8.80, spicy seafood noodle soup) and Tangsuyuk (S$9.80, sweet & sour pork), alongside Fried Pork Dumplings (S$3.50 for three) and Jajang Bab (S$3.60) — rice and black bean sauce.

One thing to note is that prices here are considerably lower as compared to the Woodlands outlet (where a bowl of jjajangmyeon is S$7.50), so look no further than this OBBA Jjajang Express in Punggol if you’re up for tasty and wallet-friendly Korean-Chinese fare!
