Panoramic views & rich history through an exclusive tour of Raffles Lighthouse

by Christabel Tan

If you’re constantly on the lookout for things to do and are open to learning more about Singapore’s rich maritime? Now you can do so with a tour to the iconic Raffles Lighthouse. Constructed in 1855, it is the second-oldest lighthouse steeped in over 167 years of heritage. Situated on Pulau Satumu, it helps to guide and navigate ships sailing the Singapore Strait.

Organised by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), these guided tours will start from the Singapore Maritime Gallery at Marina South Pier. Participants will then get to embark on a 75-minute ferry ride to Pulau Satumu, taking in the sights and history of the southern islands including Kusu Island, St John’s Island, and Pulau Semakau along the way.

Once the ferry disembarks at the lighthouse, you’ll get to climb a flight of 88 steps leading to the summit and enjoy sweeping, panoramic views of the open sea. It’s the perfect time to whip out your phones and cameras.
