Shang Pin Hotpot serves up IG-worthy bingsu & milk tea hotpot alongside authentic Sichuan Chinese dishes

My cravings for the likes of ramen, bak kut teh, and of course, hotpot, never fail to intensify during the rainy season. A warming bowl of broth works wonders for the mind, body and soul!

If you’re in the mood for some satisfying hotpot but are seeking an alternative to the usual Haidilao or Beauty in the Pot, why not give the much lesser-known Shang Pin Hotpot in City Hall a try?

Tucked away in Marina Square, this modern hotpot restaurant is a somewhat hidden gem serving up authentic Chinese cuisine with an emphasis on fiery Sichuan dishes.

Go for the signature tongue-tingling Si Chuan Spicy Soup, Golden Chicken Soup or Tomato Soup, my go-to at every hotpot joint.

Lap up bowl after bowl of heartwarming broth alongside a wide variety of ingredients like Premium Snow Beef, Black Pork Slices, Beef Cheese Balls, or even the Meat Festival, a platter of pork, beef, and mutton slices. Be sure to order a side of Crispy Fried Pork and Chongqing-style Noodles as well.

Seafood lovers can tuck into a sumptuous feast of Fresh Prawns, Mussels, Sea Urchin Balls, and Abalone — premium-quality ingredients at reasonable prices.

Like most hotpot joints specialising in Sichuan cuisine, unconventional ingredients like Pig Brains, Boneless Duck Feet, Special Beef Omasum, and Fresh Tripe (definitely not for the faint of heart) are also available.

Although there are two regular milk teas to choose from, including a Brown Sugar Pearl Milk Tea, you can take it up a notch with the very IG-worthy Milk Tea Pot, which comes with soft and chewy yam balls, grass jelly, red beans, and more. Alternatively, cool down after all that piping hot action with Korean-inspired flavoured bingsu — we hear the Oreo version is a must-try.

You can also find Shang Pin Hotpot in Parkway Parade (Marine Parade), but these unique dessert offerings are only available at the Marina Square outlet.
