Have you heard of the Japanese chain bakery Neko Neko Shokupan? The creator, chef Shinya Tajima, has brought the viral cat-shaped loaf to our shores at CATBAKE in Buona Vista!
Situated in The Star Vista, the cafe first opened its doors in December 2022 and features various menu items in feline form. For cat lovers especially, you’ll be able to enjoy both sweet and savoury bakes surrounded by Neko decor — doesn’t that sound just purr-fect?
Enjoy shokupan (Japanese milk bread) as is, or indulge in their signature Cat French Toast with Ice-cream combo (S$7.90). Their ice-cream selection features flavours like strawberry milk, lemon cream tart, pistachio and more.
If you’re looking to buy a cake for a cat-lover’s birthday celebration, the Cat Chocolate Cake and Cat Cheesecake (both S$28) are super cute options. Plus, if the chocolate cake looks and tastes familiar, it’s because Chef Tajima also now owns popular dessert chain Chocolate Origin.
Apart from the cat-shaped bakes, you can also expect to find the standard café offerings, pastries and specialty chocolates made in Japan.
You may have seen these premium chocolates from Hokkaido — CACAOCAT — in mall booths around Singapore, but what you may not know is that Chef Tajima is also behind the brand! They come in a large variety of flavours like matcha, caramel, choco mint and many more, so you’ll definitely be spoilt for choice.
According to their Instagram page, CACAOCAT also has plans to become halal-certified in the future, so everyone will soon be able to indulge in the oh-so-sinful bonbons and other sweet treats!
Other menu highlights include pastries (like croissants and tarts), as well as their Croque Monsieur (S$4.50).
