Many people will find a high number of new cafes nowadays lazily labelled as “instagrammable”. But how many can really help you get that sweet sweet clout? New opening PRAIRIE by Craftsmen certainly looks the real deal and is easily accessible from Botanic Gardens MRT too.
I’m not talking about passe industrial chic or trite, rustic hipster vibes either. Imagine a space with nice modern touches reminiscent of popular spots like Merci Marcel and Kream & Kensho, attached with an alfresco dining area that’s simply stunning.
If you ever wondered what dining in an idyllic suburban courtyard feels like—this is it. A picturesque façade lushly populated with plants and tastefully decked with gold-rimmed tables.
Besides the striking emerald and white tones, an abundance of light streamed into the spacious enclave, with bright sunroofs overhead. These great lighting conditions wouldn’t just help you charm your date, but your food snapshots will also look extra spiffy.
And your food will be looking great. Craftsmen is evidently meticulous with their plating here, especially with items like the Hokkaido Scallop Cold Pasta.
It’s hard to peel your eyes away from the sleek strands of angel hair pasta, decorated with a crown of Ikura, and plump scallops sensually peppered with leopard spots.
For something more filling, the sizeable Steak Sandwich is packed with 150g of ribeye goodness to satiate those carnivorous cravings. But if you’re watching your diet—hang in there, we feel you— there’s always the more wholesome options like the Smoked Salmon & Avocado Croissant and Acai Bowl.
Okay, if you’re not a brunch kinda person, PRAIRIE’s got you too. The menu at PRAIRIE by Craftsmen extends beyond the standard brunch fare to include pastries and sweets.
Like most cafes, you have the usual crowd pleasers like Burnt Cheesecake and Butter Croissant. But for more exciting flavours, dive into the plethora of unique offerings such as the Kaya Croissant and Chocolate Almond Croissant.
Is it really a visit to a Craftsmen outlet if you don’t get coffee brewed from their house-roasted beans?
Either get your caffeine fix from a simple Flat White or Long Black, or indulge in a quirkier concoction such as the Macadamia Latte or Gula Melaka Latte.
I don’t like to use the word—mainly because my editor abhors it with every fiber of his being—but PRAIRIE by Craftsmen is the textbook definition of an *whsipers* instagrammable café.
Sure, you might be wary of food quality, but sometimes feeding your senses with ambiance is also an enjoyment. Granted, there’re complaints of teething issues, but this has must be one of the places to impress a date.
