One of our favourite go-to meals when it comes to dining out are the easily accessible zi char eateries with their variety of delicious family-style dishes. From popular favourites like cereal prawns to sambal kangkong and more – here’s one interesting zi char eatery to add to the list that features Taiwanese-style zi char at Tai One Wei.

Located at North Bridge Road, the name alone is a pun that means ‘taste of Taiwan, and that’s exactly what they offer with a good selection of Taiwanese dishes to choose from.

As you first step into the eatery, you’ll feel like you’re in a homely eatery right in Taiwan itself with its clean and humble design – with Taiwanese diners frequenting the establishment as well – so you know it’s as authentic as it comes.

And if you’re like me and enjoy a good bowl of melty lu rou fan (braised pork rice), you’ll be able to order it here for S$3. Otherwise, you can also choose other dishes off the menu such as Stir-Fried Cabbage with Sakura Ebi ($10), Deep Fried Pork Intestines (S$10), Crispy Egg Tofu with Pork (S$10), Taiwan Preserved Radish Omelette ($10), and more.

For something a little extra special, there’s the Crispy Fried Oyster (S$18), Three Cups Squid (S$18) and Stir-fried Clams with Basil (S$18) you can try too. And if you’re planning to visit during the weekend, look out for specially imported vegetable dishes like Stir-fried Water Lotus and Stir-Fried Fern with Cordia Dichotoma (prices vary accordingly) – good for those craving an authentic taste of Taiwan.
