10 thrift stores in Singapore where you can go treasure hunting for vintage and branded fashion

by Jesslyn Lye

Thrifting is a bit like a treasure hunt — you sift through racks of clothes to discover unexpected, and often one-of-a-kind finds.

It’s gained popularity in recent years for being a sustainable alternative to fast fashion, and also a fun activity for friends to do together. Plus, who’d say no to great pieces of clothing at highly affordable prices?

Whether you’re a thrifting veteran, or you want to give it a shot for the first time, here are 10 thrift stores in Singapore where you’ll be able to find all sorts of clothes — from vintage fashion to branded pieces.

1. New2U

Even amongst thrift stores, New2U is considered one of the most affordable of the lot. You’ll find clothes, shoes, accessories, and even household items all going from the low price of S$1, and they even have regular half-price promotions to cut the cost even further.

This charity thrift store is run completely by volunteers, and all proceeds go to the Singapore Council of Women’s Organisations’ (SCWO) — that’s one more reason to shop there, because it’ll be for a good cause!

2. The Fashion Pulpit

The Fashion Pulpit isn’t your typical thrift store. Rather, it focuses on swapping, which means you swap in your old clothes for credits that you can then spend on the pre-loved clothes in the store — which makes it a great way to not only get new clothes for cheap, but also to get rid of items you no longer wear.

Their selection is pretty extensive, and you’ll find everything from casual summer dresses to formal workwear, and even a few party outfits. Plus, they refresh their inventory every couple of weeks so there’s always something new for you to nab.

Another plus is that they have fitting rooms in their store, which few thrift stores have.

Thrift shopping can be challenging if you’re a guy, because many shops only have a small selection catered to men’s clothing. Thankfully, there’s HonsiePonsie, a thrift store focused on pre-loved menswear, so men also have a place to shop secondhand.

You’ll find a carefully curated selection of jackets, shirts, cargo pants, and other vintage pieces. Prices typically range from S$15 to S$35, which is considerably affordable for good quality vintage clothing.
