When it comes to cafes around the Bugis and Kampong Glam area, there’s no place more popular than Tipo Pasta bar, known for their affordable handmade pasta with many DIY options. If you can’t get enough of their affordable and hearty Italian fare then you’d be excited to hear that they’ve opened a new concept, Tipo Pizzeria e Trattoria, not long ago.
So besides their 2 pasta bars, they’ve now also moved into the world of Pizza, offering a wide range of creative combos at Tipo Pizzeria e Trattoria. Similar to their pasta bars, the Pizzeria also gives customers plenty of freedom to build their own dream pizza starting from S$16.
Plus the gorgeous space is dressed up in chic minimalist decor, with elegant dark green hues complementing sleek wooden accents — probably a great place for a date that doesn’t hit your wallet like a fancy Italian restaurant.
So what are your options if you’re feeling up to the task of creating your own unique pizza? Tipo Pizzeria e Trattoria has a wide range of sauces and toppings for you to play around with. Start off by deciding on the sauce to be used in the base of the pizza — there’s Pomodoro, Bechamel, Basil Pesto, Pink, Salsa Verde (+S$2), and Squid Ink Garlic Cream (+S$2).
Then choose a cheese, with a popular choice being the commonly used stretchy Mozzarella or umami Parmesan (+S$2) but go wild with choices including Blue Cheese (+S$4) and Lemon Ricotta (+S$3) if you want.
Then add some pizzazz to it with the dizzying array of toppings Tipo Pizzeria e Trattoria has in store for you — with Basic Toppings (+S$2) like Sweet Basil, Cherry Tomato, and Chilli, Classic Toppings (+S$4) including Enoki, Smoked Chicken, and Spicy Pepperoni, then you can elevate it with Premium Toppings (+S$6) such as Crab, Prawn, and Squid.
But if you want to keep it simple, then get some of the combos that they’ve come up with. They’ve got an affordably priced Madam Marge (S$18) that’s basically a Margherita, an umami Proper Pepperoni (S$23), a fun fungi-loaded Mushroom Madness (S$22), and The Blackout (S$30) which is a luxurious ensemble of seafood.
While this is Tipo’s Pizzeria concept, you can also find fresh pasta options similar to those at their other outlet’s if you’d rather get some pasta to go with your pizza instead of dying of pizza overload.
Meat lovers would enjoy the Beef Ragu Campanelle (S$20) while those who love unique creations would probably be tempted to get some of their Uni Gnocchi (S$28). Either way, this new concept would definitely appeal to fans of Tipo’s pasta or their unique DIY concepts.
