I’m a total noob at art but even I’ve heard this elusive artist’s name in passing.

If we talk about the most mysterious artist in the world, the first that comes to mind is Banksy, who’s well-known for his unique style of stenciling and critique of modern politics and society. With so many conspiracies surrounding his identity, it is a wonder how his name is still engulfed in anonymity.

The art exhibition — The Art of Banksy: Without Limits — will make its debut in Singapore in December 2024. So, what’s special about the exhibition? The showcase has over 190 of the artist’s works, ranging from original art, photos, sculptures, and much more.

A few highlights to look out for are ‘Girl with Balloon’, ‘Flower Thrower’, and a replica of the Walled Off Hotel lobby. In case you need some memory refreshment, ‘Girl with Balloon’ was the viral artwork that got shredded during an auction.

It’s almost baffling how loved the artist is, considering his identity remains under anonymity. Yet, it’s undeniable how much talent he has.

As for installations, The Infinity Room might suit the self-loving individuals as you’ll be surrounded by a room filled with mirrors. Looking for the complete opposite of the “happiest place on earth”? You’ll find it at Dismaland — a simulation of Banksy’s iconic gritty amusement park project in England.

You’ll also walk down the line of murals created by Banksy and his world-class team. Visitors are able to glance at seven new murals that the artist had created during his stay in the conflict in Ukraine.

Or, if you are ever so inclined to walk through history, do head over to Louise Michel. This is a room inspired by the 30-metre-long French Navy that Banksy decorated in response to the crisis in the Mediterranean.

The experience is expected to last an hour and is a walkthrough exhibition. Tickets will be live on the website from 5pm, 13 November 2024, which you can secure yours here.

Although his anonymity is crucial to his branding as Banksy, I still can’t help but want to know the identity behind this mysterious artist.

Do note that the exhibition is not curated or authorised by the artist.

Will you be clamouring for a ticket to Banksy’s exhibition?
